What kind of tractors did the Navy use on aircraft carriers, if any? And what was that taking over or the Enterprise ship, or confiscating it, or what ever happened, that had to have happened, when u were a sailor or close!

I'm not 37 Chief but yes they had tugs on the air craft carrier I was on. We where not allowed to get very close to them to be able to see what they where as for engine etc.

I was never on a air craft carrier. The tow tractors that were used to tow our planes to parking areas, or in the hanger for repairs, were a four cylinder of some sort. I never paid much attention to them. Don't know about the Enterprise someone else mentioned about. The only thing I remember was when the North Koreans captured one of our ships. In about 1967. It was the USS Pueblo. They held the crew prisoner for a while, and didn't treat them very nice. They still have our Navy ship all these years. I was in Japan stationed on a Marine Air base. Seams over night the base was filled with fighter jets. Stan

That base wasnt Iwakuni by chance was it. I was stationed there in the mid 70s. Our tugs had a 302 Ford engine in them. I was in the F4 squadron over there. When I was stateside I was in a CH 53 helicopter squadron. We had a Ford tractor and a Massey Ferguson tractor that we moved the birds with . We also had a tug that we could only use on the tarmac.

I was there. I spent 6 months there from Moffett field Ca. naval air station. We had 12 P3 Lockheed patrol planes. We all had lots of fun in town. Stan

Did he fly tow tractors? Navy pilot reporting to Gen Macarthur who was in command of all the Army Occupation Forces. The Navy didn't get involved in that.

Navy reserve 74-75. Summer cruise at Moffett. Nearby social opportunities were excellent. Local female natives always restless about closing time.
