Well went ahead and ordered the .22 mag/.410 combination gun yesterday afternoon from Gunprime in Birmingham Alabama,brand new and apparently the last one they had.Had a email this AM that the gun had already been shipped to FFL dealer I chose in Elkton VA, supposed to be there Friday.Paid $499 plus $20 shipping and it'll be another $30 from the dealer on my end for the
transfer to me.Already have a good stock of each size ammo.See how it shoots when it gets here.
 
I have the Savage 24H-DL which is 22Mag over 20Ga. that my DD bought for me when I was 10 years old. Use it for rodents but cant find either caliber to be able to use it. 20Ga steel shot is impossible to find right now.
 
Consider some .410 slugs, will make that thing bark. I have my grandfather's .22 over 410 so old it does not have a serial number.Dad carried it as a survivor weapon. I made up a sleeve for the stock to hold ammo just a simple elastic thing,worked well.

I had the model 24 version years ago. Really regret selling it as it was a rare combo. .222 over 20 ga 3in mag. Near perfect varmit gun.
 
I saw 100 rounds of the Winchester .22WMR sell for $75 at an online auction in Rapid City SD last week. If you can't find a box of 22 mag let me know. email is open
 

You will like it . My .22/410 model 24 is the go to tool for hunting bush chickens and in case of walking into a bear while picking blueberries . A 44-40 low pressure load fits the chamber and packs a wallop out to 30-40 yards with the smooth bore .
 
I bought a model 24DL in the mid 70s(?) in 22lr/20 gauge. I didn't like it because the stock did not have enough drop at the comb to get down on the sight. I traded it for an Astra model 600 in 9mm. Still have the Astra. I recently picked up another in 22mag/20 gauge. I like it.
