I taught school for 2 years after college and decided it was not for me.
The first year at a town school, they had an awards day at the end of the year.
Gave out some perfect attendance awards.
Some had 12 years and a few had 13 and 14 years.

Good one. I was the class Herbie Sloan, Little Johnnie, and Herbie's little brother, Johnnie Sloan. School secretary liked me cause I spent alot of time in the office and I did a lot of projects for her and the principal. Some teachers just couldn't take a little comedy.

I taught school in Louisville, KY. for 30 years. Retired in '99. Occasionally I would tell a child to have a good weekend on Thursday, hoping he might sleep in. It worked from time to time. Ellis

Looking back, rewarding kids for bringing to class and sharing every disease known to mankind seems pretty counter-productive considering that average attendance is generally the basis of revenue distribution. gm
