Bicycle Chain

Trying to get an old Allied bale elevator back in service but after sitting for decades the tiny roller drive chain rusted solid and broke when I tried to turn it. I can't find a number on it but it is a little shorter links and also narrower than a #40. Looks a bit like the chain we used to see on bicycles but I haven't compared it yet. Just curious what number this chain would be.

(quoted from post at 18:36:11 03/17/21) Could be a 41 chain.
Thanks for that link and chart. To me it looks like a 35-1 chain as the pitch is less than a #40 and the roller width is also less. I remember having a similar problem on an old grain cleaner years ago and I think I robbed an old bicycle for it's chain to make the cleaner work.

41 pitch is the same as 40 pin to pin but narrower. I use them
on my cranberry dry pickers. I hate them, they cost more and
trying to get sprockets in is a pain.

However a lot of garage doors are run with 41 pitch. I know
Ive run out of connector links on a Saturday and the garage
door company in town was able to help me out.

Good luck.
Grant.

Bicycle chain is also 40 pitch (1/2 inch) narrow bike chain is 1/8" and the older traditional single speed chain is 3/16 wide. Jim

Just FYI

I had a similar problem with a hay conveyor Dad bought almost 50 years ago. Turns
out it had metric chain and sprockets on it........Once I figured that out is was
an easy order
