I spoke with two equipment dealerships this week, shortages on everything from lawnmowers to trailers to tractors. I even heard truck manufacturers cannot get the computers and certain parts they need to complete their builds. Are you guys having any problems buying equipment or parts?

Per a conversation from Tuesday with an implement parts man their items are in short supply or not available as well. Some farmers have procrastinated on getting their planter ready for spring and now find themselves in a position that no repair parts are immediately available and no firm date on shipment. An implement I ordered for March 1 delivery is not slated for a mid-May build date with no guarantees. The supply chain on many things shut down with the nnalert pandemic. Trailer dealers tell me the same thing. I am interested in upgrading; one dealer said no trailers for eight to nine months and another said no new trailers from the manufacturer for him until 2022. With that in mind maybe we should be lucky that the food chain does not shut down for 8 months to a year.

Lots of different reasons why.
And while a shortfall in supplies will be hard on manufactures to build new stuff it should not be the demise of them.
Where the real dirt is going to hit the fan is when a owner of a $50,000 pickup with that $6-700 note coming due every month has to park said pickup because it is broke down and the dealer tells him we should have the part to fix your truck in 6 months.

The owner of the company that I work for called me yesterday to tell me that we are having a price increase. Not only are prices going up on everything as we can't help but notice, but some raw materials are in short supply partly because a few people sniffed shortages coming and leveraged large amounts of some raw materials so that they can charge 300% more than it was two months ago. One example is phosphate beads which is manufactured mainly in Texas. Very little was made for a month. He is dropping one high volume phosphated product from the line and replacing it with phosphate free.

Here's the report from central Iowa. Stocked maintenance items (valves, brackets, covers, wire, etc.) last year are now 4-6 weeks delivery. 4x8 14 gauge sheet CRS steel 3-5 weeks if they can find it. Building metal has had three price increases since January but lead time is normal 1 week. I don't buy a lot of aluminum, but common shapes of 6061T6 seems stable in price and delivery. My metals supplier said he can get titanium easier than common gauges of cold rolled steel. I'm told the coasts are not near as supply-limited as the midwest, if you can afford the shipping on top of the price increase.

One ripple affect example is like this. We have 20 parts to run but the sheet can make 50. Last year we'd run all 50 and put the extra in stock as the cost of the metal was small compared to setting up the machine a second time. This year I can't get enough sheet, so we run the 20 and change setup to start the next order on the rest of that sheet. Next week we get an order for another 20 of the first part, but it has to get in line as we have no stock to pull from. Our normal 1 week lead time just went to 4 weeks just by limiting parts to stock.

If any of you guys want a job managing production control, we're hiring! Better start drinking heavily now, so you'll be in condition for what you're in for!

I spoke with a trailer manufacturer today, he told me demand is good, but the problems are supplies, trucking and labor shortages. Because of everything, a 12' PJ dovetail utility trailer, 3500 lb. single axle, powder coated, cost is $2,500, and should be available sometime in July.....

I buy my sisal twine at my local case dealer during his March sale days.
Went in 10 days ago to get 10 bales. He said don't have. He will get some from another location. They sent plastic as they have no sisal. Asked if I want it or not. I said no. Before I got around to checking some other source he called 2 days ago and said he got it.
I dropped what I was doing and went right in to get it.

We bought our first 4-wheeler, a utv. It's new, bought it from a large volume dealer in Omaha. Salesman said they're only getting 2 and if we wanted to make a profit he had a list of people we could contact that would pay extra to own one.

I don't know if you would call it a shortage but I noticed this year Walmart doesn't have any of there 20 and 50 cent seed packs like they normally have.

Hoody sweat shirts. I ordered new ones for the construction crew with their names and our logo months ago. Said they could have them done in a few weeks when I ordered them. They said as soon as the sweat shirts came in, they would get on them. Called a week ago, they said they didnt know when they would have them ready because there is a shortage of hoody sweat shirts. Almost everything seems to be affected at some level. Im not necessarily a "prepper" but I think it is a good idea to be ready as I am if the food chain is disrupted.

Toyota & Honda shutting down all N American car /truck plants next week or sooner. This is projected to be a 7 - 10 day shutdown .They can't get all the parts to assemble cars. Shortage of electronics. Petrochemical parts shortage. There was 36 foreign ships backed up at port of Los Angelos, CA last week waiting to get unloaded where there are usually a couple of ships backed up waiting. Some central U S warehouses have frozen pipes to be fixed from polar vortex. There are still supply chain problems due to pandemic in parts of economy..Still an ammo shortage at local retail shops also.

I went to get some seed potatoes and they only had Kenebec and only twenty bags. Lady said she usually received 150 three different types. She only received 21 and doesn't think she will get the rest. She said maybe people will start taking care of the things they have instead of throwing it away and buying new.

I tried to get some red clover seed a while back and the place said it was on order but they had not gotten it yet and didn't know when it would come in if at all

This is being done intentionally as a way to keep the masses broke, idle, and compliant. No wonder they fortified DC with razor wire.

Trucks, snowmobiles, jet ski's and ATV's are all sold out and have waiting lists . Travel trailers are getting scarce and expensive too. Real-estate has bidding wars , if something for sale can be found.

You're right about real estate bidding wars. I see homes and properties selling for way more money than what
they are listed for....

We want to replace our Kubota side by side. One dealer said they may have the one we want this month. Another dealer said there delivery date may be 2022.

No shortages of freezers, hand sanitizer or TP, at Menards. They are giving away hand sanitizer, free after rebate. I haven't found shortages of anything I wanted to buy at Menards.

I'm only guessing, the things that may be in short supply may be imported.

If we haven't learned any thing from the damdemic, we should have learn we need to start making more things in AMERICA. Just my opinion.

There's one of them humourous comments I spoke of earlier.

Good luck on cooperations coming back to America. nnalert lowered taxes on cooperations so they would have incentive to start here. nnalert's plan is to raise taxes on them again. Get ready for the great reset! We are definitely in the last days of this age. It's time to repent of your sins and ask Jesus to save you from he'll!

I bought a lb. of red clover from Amazon last month. It was $3.95 a pound. Also bought a pound of white clover and purple alfalfa seed to go into a food plot. They delivered it already. (Wife seen it come in the box and asked what I was going to do with it? I said I was going to smoke it.) Grin.

I priced 2X10-12 pine yesterday, $23.57, over $25 with tax. They said they had plenty in stock so shortage is not the cause. This is a local independent building supply.

Currently waiting on a set of tractor rear tires. Decided on one set as the "warehouse had them" even though they were a little more than some of the others, but local dealer said others were just not in stock. Said it would only take a day to get them since they were in stock. Well.... that was more than a week ago.
We're rebuilding 2 hay racks. Ordered treated wood for them - 4x6s, 4x4s and 2x6s. Got all the lumber except only enough 4x4s for one of them. So we have one new rack at this point. Course there's still snow on the ground so am not in "need" of a hay rack.

Carlmac, some people just have no pride, LOL!

Why would anyone want to work to make anything if they can stay home and get the bigger unemployment and other benefits that the government is giving out. This will get zapped.

Sad to say, higher taxes on the rich will drive more businesses out of the USA.
Someday the people in power will have to wake up. George

Good evening: I am afraid that the situation where "the people have money, but nothing available to buy" may be only temporary. Where ever their money came from, it may be interrupted, or need to be spent on some emergency.

Went to local Polaris dealership with checkbook in hand to buy a new Polaris Ranger 1000. I was prepared to pay MSRP and Polaris was advertising 10% off and use of AG Exemption discount, so no taxes. When he figured the "out the door price", it was $2300 over MSRP. When I asked the sale rep about the discounts as the price didn't add up, he actually said that the extra was in "hidden" costs. He also said that they only had one Ranger 1000 so they could tack on additional costs and still sell it easily. I told him I already had 2 and this one was for my son as a gift and he could screw someone else. He has been texting me every day for 3 weeks with credit apps info and come on down for a good deal. Don't know if Polaris realizes that dealerships aren't honoring the AG Exemption or 10% off like in their adds. Can't wait to see how much I'm going to pay for fertilizer and fuel this year but it will be factored into my hay prices.

I'm already hearing fertilizer prices are up, but I don't know how much. I need (N) 46-0-0 and (K) 0-0-60. I also spoke with the local John Deere Dealership this week about a zero turn mower for use around the farm, Salesman said to check back with him sometime next month. I asked about farm tax exemption, he said it didn't apply, only to the large commercial mowers. I also asked about a Farm Bureau discount, he said he didn't know, and would get back to me. It's been several days, and I have heard nothing....

I haven't seen them at Walmart either but Dollar Tree has the same brand 4 for $1.00 but have limited stock. Walmart has plenty of the $1.44 and up seed packs though. Grrr.

I'll have to check out the dollar tree. It just opened the other day. And yes I have a number of seed packages from Walmart in the $1.44 range or should I say did since most are already planted

A deer hit wife's new Expedition. Waiting on Radiator and Grille, and a small part or two. No shipping date for either. She can still drive it.

I priced some white vinyl privacy fence today. Guy had a reasonable install price, and could get to it within a couple weeks, but the manufacturer he uses is 12 weeks out. I usually do everything myself, but relations with the neighbor are cold. Don't matter, Home Cheepo is about the same lead time for material.

I hopefully nipped one potential shortage in the bud. I bought two skids of bale wrap at the Gasser Hardware customer appreciation days. I also have 10 rolls of netwrap on hand. Hay is so time sensitive, I wanted to be sure.

Last year, plastic wrap was 75 a roll. This year, sale price is 75 a roll. Regular price is 85 at Gasser and 100 at Farm and Fleet. Hennessy has it for 75 as well, but I avoid buying his questionable quality supplies. He sells 7200 twine, but the package says 6800 feet...hmmm?

I was pricing some 50' by 100' steel buildings a couple months ago. Was told the steel price was going up and I needed to buy the steel now for delivery months later. Was also told all the building crews are backed up for months as well. We decided to wait on the building.

I need to hire a Contractor to do some home improvements, but cannot even get one to answer a phone or
return a call or text. Never have I seen anything like this....

B&D ....... Yikes ..... $11 for a 2x4 is crazy. What kind of wood are we talking about? Where abouts do you live B&D? Home Depot here in central Alberta, Canada is just shy of $8 for spruce construction grade (you can pick). I always laugh at the piles of lumber there, the first five layers have been thrown off to the side by previous buyers then the staff piles it back up and the whole cycle starts again.

This would be the time to communicate with Polaris corporate office and mention that the dealer offered you a deal at $2300 over suggested retail.
