What Ferguson have we here...!?!

Hi there I am new, I have bought a MF backhoe front loader (in Australia) some weeks ago and am now endeavoring to fix the totally seized and dangerous brakes. I have been trying to identify the model and eventually settled on it being a MF50B (visually)...so I ordered some (expensive) owner and workshop manuals to set things right. Dismantling the wheel /axle it became clear that the inner works looked very different from the manual. For starters there were no brake shoes on the back of the epicyclic unit.

Can anybody shed some light into what model this is and whether this has wet or dry brakes?

This post keeps not being accepted for bad language reasons... even though I am very polite... what is going on?!?!

trying it without photos now...

Hi from Old South Wales,
There are generally 3 ways to check which type you have. Wet
brakes are normally fitted to later tractors with square-section rear
axles.....not positive. Looking at the rear of the tractor about 5 inches
down from the top link attachment point on either side of the centre
housing there may be ip to 5 notches in the edge of the inner housing
disc. This indicates the number of wet discs fitted...positive.
At the point where the brake actuator rods enter the axle housings
there are two types of sealing boot fitted. Dry brakes have a boot
which is just pushed on. Wet brakes have an internalboot which only
shows a thin flange on the outside.
I believe that only some countries (Germany being one) require
additional brake shoes to be fitted outside of the epicyclic reduction
unit to be used as a parking brake or secondary brake. Most
countries are happy to have one system do both jobs..

your tractor ID. G,day as you say.

Hope you get your pics up, I'd like to see it. I've got an old MHF 202 Work Bull. It's a 35 Industrial, the serial number plate is gone.

I'd like to know which years were badged MHF. (Massey-Harris-Ferguson.)

(quoted from post at 10:59:42 03/17/21) MHF was on the castings 2-3 years prior to becoming just MF. 1956-57-58 +-

Yes, I've seen MHF on many castings, including MF tractors. But I've seen very few hood badges with MHF on them.

I was meaning tractors with MHF on the sides and front of the hood. I can't find any pics of these online, I'll have to take pics of mine I guess.
