My shop teacher called people misusing tools Primitive Pete, too! First time I have ever heard anyone els use that name.

Primitive Pete was a Disney cartoon-character caveman featured in General Motors' World War II era training booklet "The ABCs of Hand Tools". Primitive Pete demonstrated the incorrect use of various types of hand tools, both in the booklet and in training films used in the education of military and civilians. I've often suspected that the Primitive Pete character was the inspiration for the Hanna-Barbera series The Flintstones, two decades later.

You're calling that an adjustable hammer?
I thought those things were made to round the corners off nuts and bolt heads.

The first day of class at the farm mechanics school I went to the instructor stood in front of us with a hammer in his right hand and an adjustable wrench in his left hand. He held up the hammer and said authoritatively THIS IS A HAMMER. Then he held up the adjustable wrench and said THIS IS NOT A HAMMER!

That was over 50 years ago and I have never forgotten it. Adjustable wrenches seem to come and go in my shop but none of them have dings in the handle.

If you buy a good one they are pretty handy . Had an 18 inch blue point and it was nicer than a harbor freight combination wrench set
