Just patch the tube and see if it holds. I think I've got an old tire that'll work on the front.

My guess is/was it is an H, but I may be wrong. Without the hood cover to help identify, what can we see that identifies it as either an H or M?

It is an M as Cat Guy stated, the curve of the brake pedals is the clue. The pedals on an H are much straighter. It is hard to find a good right side H photo where the belt pulley is not blocking the view of the brake pedals. If you look at the left side photos in the link and blow them up a bit you can see how straight the clutch pedals are The curve or shape of the brake and clutch pedal per model is nearly the same.
