HELP. Gehl 2500 skid steer

Im working on a 68/70 Gehl 2500 skid steer. Got unit running, lift and tilt work fine, drive worked for 5 minutes than locked up. Drive units will not turn. I can turn tires by hand with them off the ground, gears in drive boxes all seem to turn fine by hand. I have removed the 2 valves in each pump (with the transport relief buttons) they seem fine, also removed preasure relief cap and spring, could not get PR cone to come out using a magnet. Any ideas on next step? Thanks.

Not familiar with Gehl machines.

Are there inspection plates on the sides of the machine where you can get intothe chain cases for the drives?. Sounds like chains are broken, loose, jambed, ???

How easy do the drive wheels turn?

Even with the transport valves released, they would be a handful to turn.

And the front and rear should turn together on each side. If that is not happening, I would look for chain problems. At least that is how the ones I have dealt with worked.

Pull the fiberglass covers off that cover the chains to see if they are intact and on all the sprockets.

Drive tires are hard to turn by hand with release pins pushed in, one pin pushed in- wheels turns forward other pin pushed in wheels turns reverse. When turning wheels by hand and covers off gear box you can see the gears turning. Would a plugged filter cause the no drive problem? Filter is in suction side of wheel drive units. I replaced the filter once. Im not sure if the unit moved for @ 5 minutes before or after filter change, that was last fall.
