Turned around loader

I don't remember if I asked before or not, if I did, sorry. Has anyone turned a loader around so the loader is at the back of the tractor and turned the differential so the gears are opposite of normal? When I was in high school, a local company would take VAC Case's and turn them around for cattle feeders to use for hay and manure handling. It would improve visibility and steering. I'd like to do that with my Oliver 88 just because. No livestock, just use it to move heavy stuff around and maybe move some dirt or gravel once in a while. Any pictures of loader mounting?? I talked to a guy from Safety Clean at work, he said his Dad turned the loader around on his 77 and it worked great except that he didn't turn the differential around, so it had 6 reverse and 2 slow forward speeds. Something that I don't need, just want to do it. Chris

I remember a sawmill that had a McCormick 10-20 that was reversed. It also had a V8 engine in it. I think the hardest part would changing the controls around.

I did it on a Super M. T. A,and i flipped the ring and pinion, had to cut one end off the shift rails, weld that part on the other end, and then put on a new shifting socket, and shift threw the Belt Pulley plate, that has to be made! Then the shift lever is to the right side, of your right arm. I ran the Loader pump of the PTO and the power steering off the engine pump. That part worked fine. You have to reverse your brake petals and clutch, from side to side, it was a lot of work, Brakes weren't the best, but you have to get under the load, and then lift a little to move it,, other wise theirs no weight on the drivers, and you sit and spin! Have fun, but it's winter project in my opinion!

There used to be several guys in our area that had Allis Chalmers WD's or WD-45's that were reversed that way. Not sure whether any of them are still around. Don't have any pictures.

Neighbor did that with a 4020 with a 158 loader he also built a cab for it . He used it for years he may still have it.

A friend Lawrence did his WD, Allis,he put a 148 JD Loader on his, then he didn't have enough power so he put in a Chev 292, then it had too much,But he welded a non skid plate on the top of the the bucket, because he had to get on that way, that would of been a deal breaker for me,but anyway he had to leave chains on the tires year around,to get traction,it would threw dirt up in the air 3-4 feet, that part i didn't like either, but other than that, it worked good , looked good,it was his only loader tractor for 30 years.

I reversed and F12 about 20 years ago. It has a $25 loader bought from a scrap yard. It was a fun project, tractor is handy as a shirt pocket. The biggest drawback in my opinion as there's not enough weight over the steer axle, even with a 500 lb Baler flywheel hanging over it it still likes to wheelie with heavy loads. It is currently in my shop having the valves ground. BTW,many years before we acquired the tractor it had been repowered with a flathead 4-cylinder Jeep engine. More power plus electric start!
