The book says to put Allis Chalmers 821 Power Fluid in the rear differential of my 5040 tractor, so is it closer to hydraulic fluid or 90 wt. gear oil?? I asked the dealer if he had any 821 fluid for a laugh, he looked at me like i had two heads! i don't want to put the wrong thing in and potentially cause an issue

821 is AC's universal transmission hydraulic fluid. TSC, Walmart, NAPA, and many other places will have UTHFs meeting that spec. Check the container label, the different manufacturers' specs it meets should be printed on the label.
