17/750 three piece slit rims, 350 4brl, 4 speed.
A real truck. I bought it in 1980 for $400.00 unfit. I did the paint and body and some mechanical repair, and drove it for 15 years. Probably the best pickup I ever had

My first truck was a 1961 Ford F100 unibody. Paid a whole $200 for it, it needed an engine. Bought it in 76, sold it in 84. It was fire engine red . I put a set of used white spoke wheels on it. It was a piece of junk but I liked it. Everybody called it the bomb.

1963 Dodge Power Wagon. 225 slant six, 4 speed manual. Rode like a truck, too. Drive it across a field empty and it about jarred your teeth out. A friend of mine drove it across a pasture about two weeks after an appendectomy. Thought I was going to have to take the poor guy back to the hospital. Could sit on the inside of the fender well and change the oil filter and service the engine. Things have changed a bit, haven't they?

My first truck was a 1970 C-20 camper special. I bought it for $500 when I was 16. I still have it. Did a quick rust repair and paint, drove it for about 3-4 years and decided to do it right. I dismantled the truck, got started then life happened. 30 years later I am getting serious on a proper rebuild. I ordered new complete floor pans for the cab and bed recently. The frame has been sandblasted and painted. One problem is that I am finding it impossible to pick a color for the truck. I am not after a restoration but a nice driver. I mocked up an NV3500 5spd but want to find an NP833 4spd so I have overdrive with no need to have a hydraulic clutch and able to keep the 4.11 gears. I figure I should be driving it by this time next year, Lord willing.

I have 3 1969 Chevy trucks. 2 are the C-20 and one is the C-10. Plus I have parts and pieces of a 1971 GMC. The C-10 I paid $100 for and drove it for years

63 F100 223 6. 3 on the tree. Short narrow bed, blue like the oil co. It was a oil field pumper truck. Rode hard and put away wet. Got it in about 70 drove it till 75 Actually never broke down on me. Sold it to a buddy and he drove it for a while.

Mine was a 1969 Ford F-100 camper special with a 390 and automatic. Bought it in the early 90s ( Im only 46) before I could even get a license. Fixed her up and was the happiest guy around when I could finally drive it ! Wish I never sold it, but the weekly gas bill when commuting to college killed me !

I'm normally a Chevy guy, but I think the "fell over sideways" Dodge slant six is about the toughest engine ever built.

My first was a 49 Chevy half ton. Hauled a lot of stuff with that truck. If you kept it under 45 mph it got pretty good mileage. Later I had a 72 C30 Chevy step side. It was a handy truck that did better on the highway.

My first car was a 1962 Plymouth Valiant with a 225 slant 6. Back then I didn't know points needed to be replace once in a while and they got so bad the only way it would start if if you spun it over in first gear with the clutch pedal up and the bump of the car would get it to start. The points got so bad there where no points just the arm and up right the points should have been on. Once I replaced the points it fired up real easy. LOL

First pickup was a 1/2 ton 48 Ford 6 cylinder and factory three speed on the floor. Went 50 miles from home one night to pull a 55 Chevy with a tow bar back home....1969. Don't think I got out of second gear on the trip home.

My first pickup was a 55 Ford 1/2 ton 3 sp. 239? V8. I took a 3sp. Overdrive out of a car and put it in. I had to weld motor mounts on the bell housing. I liked the extra gears. It would shift down like an automatic. It would coast in overdrive when you let off of the gas.

First pick up I owned was a used 1971 GMC K2500 with a 307 and 4 speed 4.56 rears. Ran great, hauled a lot of firewood (used to sell wood), pulled JD 1010C with it. And it also would go over 100. Put 60K plus miles on it and sold it to a neighbor that used and abused it and loved it. Should have kept it.

My first was a 1972 F-250,Ranger, XLT, Camper Special with the Towing Package. 390, auto, loaded. Top speed was 80 mph but it would pull a freight train 80 mph. I do miss that truck.

Grew up driving my Grandfather's 1934 Ford 1/2 ton pickup that had the first flathead V-8 I believe. Was a blast to drive. The first pickup I owned was a 1966 Chevy Custom 1/2 ton with a straight 6 and 3 on the tree. Tom in Mn.

Brand new 1970 F100, 360 and 3 on the tree and a fiance all in Dec. 1969. The color photo is the day I sold in in 1978.

Hand me down 63 F100 Ford Y block 4 speed. Sets out back waiting. Was wrecked and rebuilt several times since 73. Ran out of steam about 15 years ago.

The same as mine. Bought new in '72- bronze color, 3/4 ton, 350 ,automatic, radio- that was it for options. Rode like a tank.

Nice.
Was that the Ranger package?
I bought a 1970 F-100 in 74 while stationed in Vallejo CA. Was the Ranger model. Had a 6 1/2 or 7' bed.
Mine had a 360 w/auto/air in it.

1967 Ford F250 step side pickup, with a 6 cylinder and 4 speed manual tranny. Lost the step side, and put a 6'x8' flat bed on it right after I got it! Sold it to buy my 1st 4x4, a '70 F-250 with 360 v8 and 4 speed manual tranny, also an 8' Fisher plow.

I inherited my dads 1968 Ford Ranger. I don't have any pictures handy but it's still sitting in the shed ready to go.

1973 Ford F100.2wd, 240 6cyl, 3 on the tree ,red in color, no power steering. Bought it in my junior year of high school, it was only about 5 years old and already needing some body work due to rust.

My first was a '66 Chevy Custom 10, with a big back window, power steering, and 3 on the tree. Tough old truck, wish I had it. Just like the next one, a 78 Chevy K-10 Silverado, with A/C, a 350, four speed, NP 203 transfer case, and dual tanks. The next was a brand new '95 K1500 Silverado loaded. Picked it up with 62 miles on the clock, parted ways with it at 275,000+. Now an '06 Silverado. I'd take any of them back.

nope, just a Custom but the young lady was a red-head and so I had to go with the upscale red and white paint job. did put add-on air in later.

I have a look-a-like RED 1969 Chevy C20.

I'm the third owner, bought it with it's original blown 307(?) engine in it back in the early 80's, popped in a "350", pulled the box off and mounted a sprayer to the frame. It's slowly sinking into the dirt in my pole barn where I parked it when I quit farming in the late '90's.

1975 GMC Sierra Grande 3/4 ton. ...2 WD,350 Engine, Auto, Colour Maroon..750 X 16 Tires..one piece rim.
Purchased new October,1975...$5,250,00..Canadian $$$$$'s

Was a very comfortable truck to ride in.....

Bob...

1970 F100 in 1980.Had a 351 small block with headers and 3 on the tree. Engine was cobbled in there and I found a parts truck with a straight six to put back in. My brother helped I think thats the first and last time he ever helped me.lol Bought the truck before I had a license.

My first truck was a 1956 Ford F250 with a 272 motor and a 4 speed tranny in 1975 then bought a new F100 4x4 the following spring $5500 outright

My first was a 1971 bought used in 72 for $1995.00. F100 with a 302 and three on the tree. The only truck I ever owned that never needed any work done on it except normal maintenance.

(quoted from post at 20:20:48 02/28/21) Mine was a 1970 Jeep J4000 pickup.
Was a tough good truck for me.

I had a 1967 J3000. Great truck, 232 6 cyl. with 3 on the tree, should never have sold it.

Am I the only guy to have started my driving life with an IH truck? I learned on a KB 6 in the north woods, but bought my first IH 1963 model 1100 (1/2 ton) in 1968 (304 V-8, 4 speed floor stick), drove it up the Alcan hwy and back, then it became my carpentry truck. Body died at about 300K so engine and tranny went into another. Second truck was a 1968 IH 1200 (3/4 ton) with 304 and 4 speed. Bought a few more IH P.U.s until the last one 1975 392/auto 4X4, last year IH built PUs. They were darn tough trucks, but a better ride than the similar Dodges.
