Compression test update

I got everything back together on the 88 this afternoon and tried to start it. Half throttle, full choke, figured it would take a lot of cranking but it fired and ran on the 3rd revolution. Scared me, I sure wasn't expecting that!! Shut it down and put the radiator on it and put some antifreeze in it so I could run it for a bit but the gaskets on the water pump were leaking and making a muddy mess on the floor, so I only ran it for 2 or 3 minutes, but it ran good thru all throttle positions. I let it cool off and did compression test just before I quit for the day, the results were; #1- 100#, #2 - 115, #3 - 110, #4 -110, #5 -110, #6 -95#. Not as high as I'd like to have seen, but it runs good which surprised me. I know it runs now, so when it warms up I'll clean it up and paint it and put it up for sale.

So this is not that low compression engine u were talking about , take it as the 2nd transplant one.

Yes, this is the one I checked the other day that was very low. I put ATF in the cylinders and let it set for a couple of days. Most all of the ATF ended up in the crankcase.
