allis D- 19 diesel

Heres one for the AC and /or dieseltec.....friend bought a diesel D19 AC tractor....day before the sale he started it and drove it and it was running sale day.....went monday to load it.... would"nt start.....pulled it....would"nt start.....got it home and still won"t start.....very ------- any ideas ????

Sorry, there is a saying ..expect the unexpected.. Did anyone check if the fuel is turned on? Sometimes there are ..yokels.. at sales that turn off the fuel tank valves hoping to have the tractor not start or falter during the start up time when it gets thrown on the ..block.. then they swoop in and scoop up the deal. Just a thought.

The knob on the fuel pump shutoff rod needs to be in the rear position to run. Pushing it forward shuts the fuel off in the pump. Works backwards to most fuel shutoffs which pull back/out to shutdown.

know for sure that the fuel is on because in the process of pulling it to try to get it started there is quite a bit of fuel slobbering out of the turbo....and we also made sure it was on !

As others have said, make sure the stop control is PULLED BACK, Out is run and IN is OFF on AC and David Brown tractors, they are bass ackwords from other makes. Also, remove the two screw timing cover on pump side, after fuel stops running out, crank engine to see if the timing mark plate is turning. If it does NOT turn when engine is cranked, pump hydraulic head is seized and drive shaft is broken. If pump DOES turn, rotor plungers and/or metering valve may be stuck. Have a Case/DB pump apart now for cleaning/repair/calibration with stuck parts inside from old stale fuel.

dieseltech.....have had the timing plate off and yes it does turn......have also checked return line to make sure it was not plugged..... and from the person who bought the tractor said when he fired it up the day before the sale that it acted like it was missing when it was at low RPMs but when he opened it up then it smoothed out and ran good after that
