JD tractor?

I was watching a video and saw these JD tractors with something in front of the nose of the tractor, I thought the tractors looked odd, so I stopped video and zoomed in on the front, any explanation as to what that is? I cant believe it is some kind of weight box?

Yep, it's an auxiliary fuel tank. I have one that came with a weight set I bought at an auction a couple years ago.

It makes the fuel tanks that were built into the rear Oliver fenders that much more desirable. ;-)

What about the single rib front tires...like you'd find on an N series Ford....look to be a lot thinner than a 9-11" normal tire. I had 4 rib, width as specified...forget the actual size on my 4230 with the Sound Guard cab and that off center post which was a great idea. I guess you could hit the 3 pt, drop a gear with the synchromesh, turn loose of the steering wheel, stomp the appropriate brake, make a U turn in the length of the tractor, grab the wheel, pop the shift lever, drop the 3 pt. and be on your way in a split second. I bought mine, a '79 model in '05 with a complete cosmetic restoration.....loved that cab....and probably one of the best looking tractors ever built.

Since Im going to be doing some touch up painting on the 4020 whilst its in the shop Im going try invisible paint on the smoke and air stacks 😃

I would think between the SOCP, the stacks, and the fuel cap, there would be something that could be used to line up on that fence post with the red handkerchief tied to it a half-mile away.

Im really hoping my invisible paint idea works I mean that must be what the other manufacturers used since no one can see their cab posts ? Or did they backwards engineer something from the Essex tri directional or maybe the Roswell incident?

The socp is a good thing, since the combination of it, the big fat muffler and air intake blocks 75 acres it's always a surprise when you get to the end of the field. Every field you do is like a surprise birthday party. Who wouldn't want that?

No, you have to use cloaking paint.

Invisible paint only means you can't see the paint.
:D

Added furrow attachments to the planter for the first time of the season to get them exactly positioned.
What made furrow was like a 3 inch straight chisel plow tooth not run to deep.
Added same attachment to cultivator to use for multiple trips over the field.
