Some of you saw the Ford in the JD pictures. It's an 850. Threw a rod last year. Seller fixed it but didn't do rings and sleeves. Says it smokes terrible...... May leave it alone.

My Ford 3600 was using what I considered too much oil. I pulled the head and oil pan, put in a new set of rings and gaskets and the problem went away for a total cost of not much over $100. If I needed another tractor I would be willing to gamble on that one.

If you need it for tires and parts $900 is fair price.
If you are planning an engine rebuild, you may have more money in the rebuild than you can sell it for and make an easy buck. If you need the tractor that is another story.

Years ago I bought a Jublee and paid the guy what he had invested in the rebuild, new tires and other repairs. $5k I also got a 6 ft woods finish mower. I know $5k was above retail but I wanted a good tractor.
Still a good tractor. It's semi retired after buying a Kubota.

Same with my Farmall C. Bought it with a rebuilt engine. The seller got hosed. I got it for $1.5k.

It's your money. You should know more than most on YT if you can repair it, flip it, add lipstick, and make a buck.

Offer 5/600 : ) The bad if you have to put an engine in it you will not make a dime I spec you will go backwards. You will make your money at the buying price just like anything else...

If a hack rod repair was done I would assume the crankshaft is not quite right. That's a big job to finance. I would keep it till I found one trashed with a good motor.
