(quoted from post at 18:54:07 02/24/21) Dont see many or if any of those tractors around here, pretty interesting video though, I always wondered about those air cooled engines,
Ran two air-cooled for years Deutz 10006 and a 7585 never had any problem with over heating. Had over10,000 hours on both before trading them never touched the engine on either.

One of my distant cousins had one and I ran it one fall digging potatoes and it wasnt a bad tractor . Didnt have a chance to see whether it would heat up because it was only pulling a 2 row windrower with a 200 horse tractor

The key to a Deutz is to keep the engine clean. Those should be blown out everyday and if you do they will last longer than almost any engine. I have a friend with a 10006 that has over 25,000 hrs on it. Engine yet to be opened up. I had a DX-135 that pulled 5/18 bottoms. You could run that on plow for whole day, shut it off after letting it cool down a bit and run the dipstick thru your fingers. The canning company had a fleet of pea combines powered with Deutz engines. Problem they had was to get the drivers or servicemen to clean them everyday. Finally repowered with Deere. Used 50% more fuel with shorter engine life.
