Whats the best tractor you

always liked the old fords . 9n,, jubilee ,200,. got a jd 301a its good when there are no problems but parts are expensive.

I have a 1956 green 420c Im working very slowly on rebuilding . I use to drill pulling a 14 foot wide international 620 press drill or pull a 3 section spike tooth harrow I sure liked that tractor

JD 4255 I purchased used when it was 1-1/2 old in Feb.'93 with 2847 hrs on speed/hour meter. It now has 11.459.2 hrs on speed/hour meter with relatively new engine overhaul due to failed sealing rings on bottom of cylinder liners.

I have had the privilege of having many excellent tractors, several from new. Ford 5640 with loader , CaseIh 5140 with loader, Kubota 135 and M6-145 both with loaders. All of my 30 series JI Case tractors have been great tractors. I have owned a lot of IH tractors over the years, some from new, but dont want any more

4230 open station powershift. Just the right size for hay and chores and the powershift is ideal for round baling.

CaseIH Magnum 7240. Had maybe 6000 hours on it when I bought it 10-12 years ago. The local dealer researched it and told me it had that many hours on it years before that! Nothing about this tractor shows high hours. It just keeps going.

As for my tractors, my old Allis D-14 is the most reliable piece of equipment I've ever owned - I guess my Oliver 1755 is the handiest to operate.
I'll put a third vote in for a Ford 5000 though. A guy I worked for as a kid had a couple of them - great tractors. If they built them today with a little more hydraulics, I'm guessing they could sell all they could make

Allis Chalmers WD45 my dad bought in 1957,ran it for years and put a lot of hard hrs on it with very few problems.Used regularly up until 2000.My Oliver 1365 been a great tractor for me.

My brothers 2290 case. Was his big tractor for many years and did all his tillage work and was always over loaded. Then went to the planting tractor pulling a 12 row front fold planter with dry fertilizer which was way to heavy for it even tho it didn't pull real hard. While he was doing all that he would pull it in tractor pulls in the summer with different turbo and injector pump and water injection with enough hp to spin the wheels in road gear. Don't know how many hours it has now but I'm sure it's well over 10,000, and it's still in use on the farm with the original engine. It did spin the torque plate once when pulling and had to have that replaced.

depends on the task.

I have a 1948 IH Super AV that is the best thing for two row vegetable cultivating
1968 Ford 5000 diesel that keeps on ticking, great intermediate size, my main go-to.
1972? Ford 2600 diesel for cultivating, scraping, small scale spray, general utility work.
1974 Ford 7600 diesel for heavier work

growing up we had a MF 30 that was a great utility tractor
MH 333 with duals that did all the discing
JD B, 1010, 3020, and larger diesel 40? all were great at their designated tasks.

Can say any of them were bad

D-15 series 2 with factory 3ph, best little tractor we ever owned, never failed to start, bailed over 60,000 square bales a year with that little tractor and a NH 273 baler.

My 1968 4020. I bought it in 1990 with an engine oil pressure problem. It was a bad oring on the oil filter canister at the oil pump. Overhauled it shortly after that with M&W engine kit. It was my biggest tractor for over 20 years and was worked hard as we have the fuel really set up on it. Tom

Moline G1350. It was owned by a neighbor. He turbocharged the engine iirc in 1976. The following spring he rented a Case that was rated 155 hp. His son was running the Moline pulling 15 chisels, I was driving the Case pulling 13. That Moline ran circles around me.

God is the only one who knows how many hours on a 1948 2 stick cyclone John Deere A my father bought new. For a 80 head total farm is was
the big tractor until 1967 or 68? We had a 46 Model A Deere that became the spreader & Light chore tractor after the 48 was Purchased. Then
the cyclone a became the lite chore tractor after the 730 W/F Diesel came to the farm. Both of the A left the farm in the late 90's some time
after 1997. Both left the farm after 2 or 3 over hauls & the cyclone had a New Standard block. & Was on it's 3rd drawbar. Many a day that tractor
spring planting ran for 8Am till near 11PM with 3 operators Grand Dad Brother & My Self. It baled hay all over the county & combined grain all over
the county 1950/1970 tractor wore out at least 3 combines. We always kept it looking nice, it is still being used today, however the people who
bought it have used in entirely in the Woods, doesn't looks so nice anymore. About the only deere we've had that I didn't like a whole lot was a 1955
John Deere 50. It always had a issue.... on the farm today is 1944 A. 1947 M, 1953 60, 1954 60 1957 620, 1960 530, 1960 630, 1959 730D 1960 730D &
27504wd & 32554wd , too darn many.

The JD 4010 diesel that has been on this farm since new. Next would be the Oliver 88 that has been here since new. The IH 986 of which I am the second owner is another one.

The best tractor I ever owned or operated was an Oliver 88 Row Crop that dad owned and I ended up with. The 6 cylinder and the 6-speed transmission was a great combination. I had to sell the tractor when we moved to town. I think the only reason that Oliver didn't emerge as one of the BIG tractor companies was poor marketing.

I like my little Case 311RN. Not the biggest tractor, but handy for so many task. After that, my late father's, now brother's, Case VAC. We did everything growing up with that little tractor, plow, disk, log, even bale hay.

The JD 8440 was a good one for us, I spent a lot of time in that thing. Im not sure it was any more reliable that the JD4320 or the Case 2290, I still have, but it had the best cab, and that was nice.

871 Ford my Dad bought with upgraded select o speed. No tractor could beat it setting tobacco out. Very handy tractor all around for its size and it still running grate with just one motor overhaul since 1959 and the 5000 Ford with over 20 thousand hours and still
cuts hay and rolls hay when needed. Last but not least 4230 Deere very good tractor.

I had a 1256 IH I bought new. After it went out of warranty I put it in the shop & changed the injectors, turbo, & timing & bumped it up to 155hp. I put new rice & cane tires on it & the duals & hung weights on it until there wasn't anywhere else to hang them. It was the main tillage tractor for years & had 9800 hrs on it when I traded it in on a 1486. Other than the tune up after it went out of warranty it never had a wrench on it.

The JD 750 compact we bought new in 1982. Less problems than anything ever !
The 1965 4020 gas has been pretty good too. Bought it in around 1992 ? went over it pretty good sealing up leaks and various repairs. Been pretty good all the years we owned it.

I bought a 100% cosmetically restored 4230 including new cab interior with new 134a AC system, 1979 model in 2005, with 3900 haying hours, with powershift. I really liked it especially the 2 stage power shift where you got to the end of a row, downshifted for the turn, and back up to speed with the flip of a lever. I ran it with a JD 530 rounder on reasonably level soil and it handled it ok. Having had a 4010 and 20 in the past, it seemingly was a lot more tractor than it's predecessors. Great tillage machine. I sold it when I downsized my farming operation.

I have owned alot of Tractors over the years, most were Massey Ferguson. I had good results with the ones that had previous care. Care is the key.

MyThe SM owned since '81,the 706 since '84.I've owned over 50 tractors in my 'carrer'. The SM and the '7'(and maybe the 8N) will be the last tractors to leave the place. They will most likely haul me to my grave.

My Jet Star 3. I've owned it for 34 years. I gave it a new set of tires. But I'm
getting too old for manual steering on a loader tractor. It pushed a lot of snow
and did a lot of lifting. Started easily down to -10F without a heater.

I've owned my 4000 Ford for 30 years, it's been a great tractor.
A friend got his 2630 JD around the same time as I got my 4000, I've driven it a good bit helping him on his farm, it'd been a good tractor.

I purchased a used Kubota L4850 a few years ago
5 cylinder Kubota Diesel Engine,53 HP , its amazing Tractor
Would not trade it for anything .
easy on fuel and so much power.

1958 Farmall 460. From 1963 til 2001 it did it. Thousands and thousands of hours on it and still had a good TA and 1958 calcium and rims, four or five sets of tires.

Allis Chalmers 175 diesels, I owned 8 at one time, now down to 4. They are my money makers, sip fuel, hardly anything spent on repairs, paid for themselves many times over.

Thats a neat Picture. I was working my 3020 so hard last fall someone called the fire department on me

we had an old tractor, don't even know which kind, flat metal spoke rear wheels, narrow front end, build an irrigation pipe rack on each side over the rear tires, engine was replaced with a 6 cyl truck motor (maybe a ford?) + 3 sp trans connected by welded shaft and uni to the tractor trans, so had some gears to play with :p . tractor trans and rear would groan and whine. Put her in truck high gear and tractor high gear and was crazy scary fast. Starting wasn't always certain but dang it was always interesting.
