Case 646 compact loader

A friend told me this was available for sale and the owner only knew it was an old lawnmower with a loader. I went to look at it and the owner said $350 and it's yours. It needs a few minor repairs, but there was no way I was going to pass at that price.

If you had any sense you would bring that up and drop it off in my yard for me to test out. I could give it a complete run through and test over about 5 or 6 years and then you would know if it was good.

Ingersol bought the CASE Compact line, has nothing to do with the terramite,, thats a cheap knock off, that price he is giving it away

We sold the first 644 in 1971,, one of the first built as we had it on order for months,,

we sold 2-4 a year of 644 and 646 great units,, these are not hydrostatic drive but 100% hyd drive, these were built for industrial service,, they even offered a backhoe attachment for them,,

Yes, the Terramite is junk compared to these. And I figured they would want at least $500 or more for it. When they said $350 I immediately said I'll take it.

Yes, they are a miniature version of our old 580ck. This one is a 1974 by the serial number list I looked at. I also have a 110 lawn tractor, a 224 and a 155.

Don't let George from TH hear you say that, He is a big Terra-Mite fan. I have a Dig-It brand TLB that is based on the Power King tractor and it is about the Terra mite size.

Nice buy. I hope it has no major problems like the SC you bought did. Good luck putting it to use. Although I think you should sell it to me! Lol

The SC really didn't have any major problems, if it was just going to be a trailer queen it would have been fine, but it's going to be put to work here. And this little guy does need some work, but it does run. And even my neighbor came over and asked if it was going to be for sale. I shouldn't say I won't sell it because if someone offers enough cash I'll sell just about anything lol

I wasn't sure what the problem with the SC was, all I remembered from your previous posts was that you were doing a complete engine rebuild. It seems that everyone wants your new toy, maybe they priced a ~20 hp Kubota and decided that 350 was basically free. Lol

The valve guides were worn and a little low on compression, so I decided to just go through it and make it field ready. And $350 for this 646 was a steal! The last ones I seen sell was several years ago non running and pretty bad shape were $500-$800 running and decent shape were around $1200-$1600

That's what I was thinking, a lot of similarities.

Research the history of terramite. I think before they started building a complete loader backhoe they build add on units for lawn mowers, Gibsons if I recall.

Terramite was bought out. Last time I called, no answer.

I have a Case 646, I believe it to be a 1973 model. Mine has a Kohler Engine and I have problems getting anything from Ingersol for it. They tell me it should be an Onan engine. Mine needs some work but a handy tractor. All I have is the tractor, bucket, and weight box. You gotta love them.

a 644 had a Kolher 14 hp single cylinder engine a 646 came with the 16 hp Onan,, if yours say 646 on the serial tag someone did a engine swap,,

At that price, you stole that...
My first 646 with the backhoe, in bad shape, was in the $3k realm, and took driving up to Vermont from NJ to pick up... Congrats, they're the toughest machine available in their size.
