Where can I get a new gauge for my 500 gallon overhead fuel
tank

Don't know. Tap a wrench on the side. My ford 1500 uses a plastic tube from the bottom to the top as a sight glass. Just put a new one in that was clear. Put a tee in the bottom and run a piece of plastic hose up to the top and back in. Drill a hole in the cap in the top and use a float on a rod that rises up and down with the level. Could make one with a piece of pipe that will fit in the cap with the float inside of it. Maybe try some of those propane tank stickons that change color with the fluid level. Use one for a tractor or mower that hangs below the cap and just add an extension so it will reach further back in the tank. Make something like what is in a toilet.

A regular fuel gauge is going to need a big gauge face for you to see it from the ground.

With a couple fittings; a shut off valve; and so petroleum quality clear tubing you can make a sight glass gauge that T's off your hose in the bottom of the tank.
Just remember to keep the shut off valve close except when you are checking the level because if the tube develops a leak it will drain the entire tank on the ground.
There is no need to run it to the top of the tank if the hose extends above the top of the tank.
Some just run the hose around the side of the tank and make the hose long enough it hangs down on the other side of the tank.

Or you can spend the bucks and get a ready made sight glass like this.

The gauges are only about 2 inches across the face . My other two tanks have the same gauge but this one the glass face is broken and the needle is gone
