i found this picture today while cleaning up my office. my 1942 farmall m (distillate) pulling my hay rack at my daughters school. the tractor was a ww2 lottery tractor that my neighbor bought new. he was in the army in europe when his name was drawn. he went in dday in glider, many of his group did not survive the landing. he never really talked about it. any way i still have the tractor. it was the one that was damaged last year in the derecho when my tool shed came down.

Growing up, one of my friends Dad had a brown M, I asked why it was brown instead of red and was told that it was made during the war and red paint was in short supply so it was painted brown. I don't know if they were pulling my leg or not, but I have never seen another brown Farmall.
