I was blessed to meet Bob Dole when he spoke at a corporate event I attended back in the mid 1990's. He was a very good speaker, had some great stories to tell and was very warm and gracious to meet one on one. I still remember the wry smile when he was telling the story that he lived in a condo building in Washington D.C. area and Monica Lewinsky was on the same floor. He would see her regularly and exchange greetings.

I grew up in the "Big First" Congressional District in Kansas. I remember well when he first ran for Congress in 1960 and then when he moved up to the Senate on Frank Carlson's retirement. He did a lot of good for Kansas during his tenure in Washington.

Before they start deciding when someone should be denied medical assistance, lets first
decide to let someone decide for themselves if and when they want to cash in to end
their needles suffering.

I will certainly leave the decision of treatment up to him. He has endured so
much I know he realizes what is ahead for him.

I understand he would have himself dressed up and wheeled out to greet the
people who were visiting the Arlington Cemetery , or one of our national
monuments not that long ago. One tough non complaining son of a gun.

He was a great guy!

I have a book he wrote on "Political Wit", witty comments from politicians of all stripes.

One thing he said himself was, "If you're going to be in politics, you have to have a sense of humor, because sometimes humor is the only thing that will get you through the day".

Having had a short career in politics myself, I can relate to that.
