Is 97 years old.....why in heck is he thinking that his treatments for cancer will prolong his life?

I don't know why he would be thinking that, but on the other hand, if I were to be that age and still having a good life I might understand why.

I understand the thinking, of course, but thinking that some people are too old for medical treatment will lead our culture down a path that none of us wish for.

I thought the same thing as you when I first read of his cancer, but then I tried to decide at what age would I consider too old? And who decides that?

Good ol Bob. A tough Russell, KS boy. Wounded in Italy in WWII. Spent around a year in hospitals. Suffered a lot. Was left with a bad shoulder, arm, and hand he couldn't use. Stuck a pen in the fingers of his bad hand all the time to make it look useful. Doesn't speak to well anymore but still going.

Hang in there Bob. Good Luck.

ever give up! Keep on trying! And 1948CaseVAI is right about the path we do not want to go down.

If he was your father or grandfather, would you tell him not to bother? I understand what you mean from an intellectual point of view, but that point of view also says anyone not "contributing to society" should be euthanized anyway. Not a road I want to see us travel.
