beef prices and the deep freeze

why would it have any affect a little cold and snow is nothing to cattle people are the ones that can't handle it

Well i kinda agree, but if things are not normal at home, maybe they had to spend their money for something else, and wont have any money for a beef.!!!

(quoted from post at 13:44:15 02/17/21) How is the weather in Texas and the south going to affect cattle prices?

IMHO the cattle producer will lose $$$$$ due to higher livestock feed needs/ costs & packing houses will make a lot more $$$$$ due to the increased prices to meat retailers therefore forcing higher retail meat prices.

I expect that there are some on the way to the slaughter house right now because the owner has no prospects of being able to get water for them before they die.

It will only matter if it disrupts operations at the processing plants.

We saw it last year during the virus shutdown. Slowdowns at the plants cause a glut of live cattle on the intake, driving cattle prices down. It also causes a drop in the supply of processed meat, driving meat prices UP.

Temperatures are forecast to be in the 50's in San Antonio by Saturday and going up from there.
