Late John Deere B vs. Late Allis Chalmers WC

Both are about the same HP.Both are simple tractors from the 1940s.Comparable to Farmall 'H';Case SC;Oliver 60/70.None will have live PTO. The JD has a hand clutch and foot brakes. Not as handy for some people. The B can have hydralics(Power'trol) or 3 point. The JD is more common, over 350,000 were built. Lots of parts are out there. The AC is just as good a tractor, not as common, but it had a foot clutch, but has hand brakes. No hydralics.Maybe a bit handier.Basicly it all boils down to personal preference.I would suggest something a bit newer with LPTO,hydralics,3 point.... JD 50/520/530;AC wd/wD45,D14/D15;IH 300/350 or even newer.

I'm partial to the late JD B so the B of coarse !
I always heard that the allis were a good drive train , but they forgot to design a spot for the operator ?

Go with the late B. A WC has hand brakes so when using both brakes do you steer with your teeth? If you want orange take a look at a WD. Much better tractor and live pto. Tom

Late B. Nice belt pully and will have hydraulic and electric start with lights. Nice seat. Can get a three point if needed. I think they will pull more especially if they have cast centers which most due.

I can not say anything bad about a WC. I have owned about 3 and one was my main tractor from 1958 until 1973except while I was away with Army for 2 years. Mine had 4.125 sleeves and pistons and engine ran 1800. and had a Monroe seat. I learned to like the hand brakes. I know they are not for everybody. They are one of the easiest tractors to work on. I had a WD later
