In this case, used parts suppliers that LIE about the condition of a part.

Who needs a used part for a $$$ price that's in WORSE condition than the one you are needing to replace?

And not just private sellers.

I learned LONG ago not to even bother, but (stupidly) "did it again" out of desperation and received a "good used" part (distributor) in such bad shape that it probably wouldn't even be acceptable as a "core" by a rebuilder.

Got a line of B.S. from the company, HOPEFULLY my CC company will reverse the charge.

I guess if you send "junk" out enough times eventually someone won't DEMAND a refund and keep it!
 
I ordered a "reman" oil pump for one of my Farmalls. It came all painted up and pretty. I pulled the cover off to check the gears and low and behold, they hadn't even cleaned the dirty old oil out of it. Fortunately this company had a good return policy and I got my money back. I am sure there are lots of "paint reman" parts sold.

I agree, I ordered a wheel for a car online which was advertised as re-furbished. All they did was remove the tire and spray it with rattle can paint over the dirt and rust. It will need to be refinished to work. The only good thing is it was cheaper than I could have gotten a used wheel with an old rotten tire on it.
 
I ordered a "new" or said to be new replacement part for my microwave oven. Since it is a built in unit over the stove, working on it is less than convenient.

The part that arrived showed signs of having been used previously. There were impressions that were obviously from screw heads on the mounting tabs and grooves on the spade terminals where the electrical connector attaches. I complained to the vendor, and was assured that the part was new and would function perfectly. I asked again for an explanation of why the part appeared to be used, and was offered a refund upon its return. I did opt for the return and refund.

I suspected that it had been "tried" on another appliance, but that explanation was not offered. Sorry, I'll pass on that one!
