I learned a new word. Planishing is the process of smoothing a weld down to base metal. Maybe some of you knew it, I sure didn't. Stan

Planishing I knew about. I learned a new (and similar) word while watching a couple of demented British car nuts cram the running gear from a AWD turbo Celica into an Austin Mini.

They call the process of grinding/sanding down welded joints "linishing". I had to look that up, it's actually a word!

Their operation is called Bad Obsession Motor Sports, their 33 part (so far...) series on the project is at the link.

Yes, I learned that word a while back on my favourite old car fixing channel. Coldwarmotors from right here in Canada. There is literally nothing that guy can't make out of sheet metal to fix a rusty old car body. A real artist. I also learned about the English wheel there.
