On my '61-'62 yr. tractor I just got, when I down Idle all the way it does alot of back firing.,and also the throttle does not open up to full rpm till you work the throttle up and down alot. it does idle very good how ever.,Any help? Thank's

Exhaust explosions out the muffler are a very common fact of life in the old tractor world. The reason for it is the rich mixture of non EPA
regulated carburetors getting unburned fuel into the exhaust pipe as the engine slows from speed. a flame or glowing carbon in the exhaust pipes
ignites it and ""POW""POW""POW''. pretty normal. The linkage may need to be lubricated from the hand lever pivot all the way to the governor. I
like a chain lub spray because it goes on pretty thin and stays in place as it thickens. Jim
