Help - Belarus 572

Hi All,
I have recently picked up a late 80's Belarus 572 with a loader, its rough but relatively leak free and running well.
1. The draught lever bracket is rusted through and I will fab up a new one, but I can't seem to work out where the return spring mounts to on the tractor? See pIc
2. All my manuals tell me its a 12v system, but the previous owner has it hooked up as a 24v, starts easy, but thinking it may be a bit much, see pic
3. What does this button do that is in the cab and the common battery earths are connected to? See pic
I am sure there will be more questions in time
Thanks - Ben

We had a couple Belarus’ when I was a kid.,I think they’re
wired in series giving them 24v from factory and the floor
button is a factory kill switch. Not sure on your other question.

On this "button" you mention where the neg's come together, is there a bonding strap/physical connection
to the tractor body/frame itself and maybe the mounting bolt are part of the circuit? If there is no
circuit from neg to tractor until this button is pushed in, its a return path for charging circuit, it
should lock on until a release button is operated?
As a kill switch, it is to remove the batterys from a possible discharge through the machines electrics, a
gen excite/lights/accessories' and such when not in use.
To really check it, start the machine and read the voltage at the starter hot post when rolling
over..24vdc... and then when its running check the voltage across the battery posts..12.?? and then push
the button in, battery voltage is now 13/14.?? : ground connection device for charging purposes.
also you will have indication of how the voltage regulator is set, winter mode 14+vdc or summer mode13+vdc
unless it has an alternator instead of the generator unit.
hope it helps

I don’t see pics. Will try a different browser later. I have one. The button you talk about is a
battery disconnect. If it is like mine you push a button on top of the button to disconnect the
battery so you don’t draw them dead when not running. You Bush the big part in so everything has
voltage and you are ready to start.
Drought lever I never heard of such so no idea what that is.

Not sure what is all different in a 572 vs 562. Dad's 562 was bought new in '89 and no modifications. Its 12v with 2 6v batteries in series.

There is a grounding switch/button on the right rear corner of the cab by the battery box behind the seat. Cuts all power to the tractor when off.

Is this the same tractor a another new poster was asking about a little while ago where the rear wheels where not moving but the fronts were?

If so, I wondered if the 3 position lever for the "mode" the FWA was set for has something to do with it. My recollection on that was you get rears only, "on demand" front assist or full FWD with that. There is also a diff lock for the rears, separate control.

I think I have the operators manual here and it covers both the 562 and 572.
