Smallest tractor

I was talking to local guys. Question was what was the smallest farm
tractor. Made for farm use. Not lawn tractors.

Farmall cub at around 12HP. The A/C G but don't remember off hand its HP. The MH pony at 11.60hp. Also the JD L series. Many of the ones I have here are not even listed in the NEB. test list I have

How about the Gibson A, D and Super D?

These were tested by the Nebraska Tractor test lab. All delivered 6 HP - about half the power of the "mighty" Cub and Allis G(!)

IIRC I dynoed mine at 16 HP at the pto. I do have it written down I think in the note book in the dyno.

Well,, CASE Compacts are light years ahead of any 'lawn tractor" These were made for Commercial use and we sold Lots of them that ran 8 hours a day 6 days a week. here are two of mine I use,, and will add pics of the smallest CASE

This 646 was also a industrial unit as you can see by the colors,, these are tough loader units,, they could also be order with a backhoe on them, the loader is built right in the frame and not a add-on

my 1958 200B these were only built to show CASE had model for model of what JD offered at the time,,

I just traded for the smaller brother of your two // A 224 with 4 foot mower deck [ he had a snow blower but wanted $100.00 Canadian for it but I didn't need it]; traded my Sears Craftsman 4000 with 42 inch deck all in working order. I was after the hydraulic trasn., Became very tired of shifting gears while cutting small lots at the camp where we live. Am going to remount the mower deck from underneath to out front. Have a dozer blade to mount also.

Well you could use a Cub Cadet size with a loader for cleaning barns, a garden/lawn tractor but could be a farm tractor too depending on the use.

Definitely not the smallest of them all, but when I sit on it (I'm 6'6"), it looks somewhat small. Plus, it does have a three point behind it.

Replying for my dad.

Dad voted 6 hp Gibson as well.
He watched them replace the horse as they pulled a 5 foot sickle mower to cut the hay crop.

And also as another thought, the 2 wheel david bradley tractor at 2 hp, also replaced the horse as it could be hooked to horse drawn implements, allowing the driver to ride and operate the implement as originally designed.

That's a nice little tractor, would fit in the back of a pickup, a real one with an 8 foot box! I'm surprised it has a 3 cylinder engine, must be smooth.

It's been a great tractor. I bought it new in 1987 and it's still going. When I bought it, it had a front loader on it but the hydraulics got in such bad shape I took the loader off. Right now I'm in the process of restoring the loader and going to put it back on soon. I just won't use the tractor as hard as I used too anymore. The front axle for the 2wd was a little too wimpy for a front loader. I kept breaking king pins and have replaced the entire front axle before. I also have a Case 210B with a front loader I will use for heavier work now. I might dig with the kubota and haul the dirt with the case. The kubota digs a lot better than the case tractor.

Smallest made for farm use tractor, as in do everything back int he day? A Gravely, Simplicity or Bolens Husky type walking tractor. Plow, cultivate, grind, cut wood, run pumps, mow, rake, pull a wagon...they'd do it all on a small scale.
