Milk Bulk Tank Question

I've been working on an 600 gallon old milk tank, getting ready to pressure test the dimple plate heat exchanger. Is there a way to tell from the connections how many passes or sections to the heat exchanger/evaporator there is?

It looks to have a single 1/2" liquid line in the bottom and a pair of 3/4" vapour lines, one one each side near the top making me think its one big section or there would be a pair of liquid lines. I know on some old leaky tanks you can pinch off the bad side of evaporator and keep going on the other side.

Second question, does anyone know what the connection to the dimple plate looks like for these lines without cutting open the skin? I've watched a ton of milk tank repair videos on YouTube but they never show the liquid or vapour line connections. Also never shows up in literature on the tanks.

Looking to enlarge the 1/2" connection to put water through the direct heat exchanger instead of freon.

If that inlet line doesn't have an orifice or cap tubes coming off from it, you should be able to use it. However you won't get much flow through it, maybe 4gpm at best. Probably 10degrees Delta T Hook it up to a garden hose and see what your flow is and go from there

I've got a 1200 gallon Zero that was repaired 3 times in same basic spot by cutting a piece of the outside skin.It still seems to be holding pressure but hasn't been used for 10 years. Free if you also take the relatively new 5 hp compressor for $500. S WI

A bit far away for me! Found the liquid line has been broken loose
and air is escaping from inside near it. Going to cut open the skin and
see. I finally found a picture of the connection inside the skin, should
be stainless nipples welded to the waffle in a few places down the
centreline of the tank. Somewhere in the end it transitions to copper.

The vapour lines appear to be 1” tube sizing so about 7/8 pipe size.
May be able to cap the liquid line and use them.
