Finally going to get some winter.

Going to get plenty cold here in western NY too over the next week and maybe even further. Today is a beautiful day with temps in the 30's, not a cloud to be seen. Good day to get ready for the upcoming cold. I cleaned my chimney and brought a couple of face cords of wood from the wood pile to where I keep it to bring in the house when needed. It was a chance to start up my H and use it on a hay wagon to move the wood. I burnt more wood in the past 2 weeks than I have all winter but if next week is as cold as predicted the amount of wood will climb fast.

The next five days are going to be cold here in Nebraska, too.

Lows around zero or a bit below.

Saw a mosquito building an igloo on Monday with the little snow we have in the center of the state. I figured something was up.

The phrase, "Polar Vortex" was in our forecast yesterday and thats never a good thing. Woke up to -10F and a Northwest wind blowing. Nice enough in the sun, out of the wind but not the kind of day you want to be out in the open spaces. Apparently this is just a "warm up" for the real cold that is coming for the next few days or a week.

Yep, the days ahead in tropical MN look to be good for making pot roasts and perhaps baking something too.

When I went to town today the temp was 44 and about 1.5 hours latter it was down to 37 and was snowing. There saying the next few days we will be lucky if we get above freezing

You folks have all the fun playing in the snow. I have to drive 50 miles into the mountains if I want to see snow. I never do that. It snowed one time here in my part of southern California in 66, but I missed it. I was in the Navy at the time. Stan

Hope you enjoy it Jerry. Started to shiver just looking at those numbers.

I'm truly sorry for your loss......of heat......

Those numbers scare us down here in GA!!!

I spent the winter of 66-67 in San Bernadino and I do not remember any snow! We played football on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years in T shirts.

Pretty simple. Walk over to wall thermostat and reset as desired. 15 below outside, 70 inside.
Not we are like our ancestors in sod huts on the prairie.

Still waiting on my 2606 engine in the shop to be done. Figure I'll get the call as soon as it hits -1. Then I'll be out under the tree trying to install it.
