six more weeks!

Well, the woodchuck allegedly saw his shadow: Predicts 6 more weeks of this interminable winter. Never mind, the east cost is having a monster snowstorm (according to major media outlets,) and it was snowing as they dragged the poor critter outta his burrow this morning. Depending on which source, Phil is only 30 to 50% right in his predictions. He could branch out to be a financial advisor!

Only six more weeks of winter? So its going to be a short winter for us if that is true.

Mid 50s in southern KS today and NO snow on the ground since the last storm left all of SE KS with only rain so I guess I can take 6 more weeks of it.

Good grief it cold have been a month and a half instead of six weeks!

Official reading as of 0800 this morning was 32" of the white stuff here in Northwestern New Jersey and still coming down. I doubt that it will set any records when all is said and done as I see the all-time record for Sussex County was set in 1961 at 52".

Well when i crawled out of my hole this morning i saw my shadow . Remarkable we have what i think they call SUN SHINE . The massive snow storm they kept beating there gums about gave us around 4-5 inches of not fun to blow snow . Lots of shut plugging with the wet snow , yea i know you can fix that problem with some rubber flaps on the impeller . Getting lazy in my old age , just have not installed them yet . I have them all cut out , i have the reinforcements made i have the round headed 1/4 inch cap screws i have the ni-loc nuts they are all setting on the work bench in a small box . Just have not clamped them on and drill the holes yet , BUT i did think about that last Sept or was that Oct. The Fatman across the street was the first one out with the blower yesterday with his fancy 11 Hp. 30 inch Craftsman with power steering and hand warmer grips and was doing a fine job till he hit the side walk and got into what the city piled on top of the snow from the slushy street And he plugged big time and killed his . I plugged around 6-7 times killing my old junk Arien's twice once with a LOG and once with a gobb of leaf's .NOW get ready for some bone chilling cold . I always said that the day i got married Hattie's would freeze over . Well on that day Feb. 7 1975 it was 26 below and a ragging snow storm , all out of town guests got stuck here for three days . And this coming weekend is head down to the 0 or below mark like usual. Sorry guys .

Saw a cartoon this morning. A groundhog sitting on a bench with an old lady. Tells her that humans are strange; They get weather reports from marmots, and their news from Facebook.

Me neither. They pretty much tell you what they want you to hear. When it ends it ends. Usually around April the way the winters have been going recently in NE CT.

We just had our first real snowfall of the season on Sunday and temps really haven't been too bad either.

I figure winter is just getting started for us.

Funny thread.

Very overcast, cloudy, all day fog, trees are white with hoar frost.

No shadows around southern MN!

tv, try spraying you snowblower augers and chutes with pam cooking spray. really helps to get the slushy snow to go thru without plugging. if you use the olive oil pams, ya get a taste for some chefs salad when yer done!

Usually the weather guessers tell us "We gonna get buried! Life as we know it will come to an end"! and we'd get 2 inches. This time they told us we would get (maybe) 3-4 inches. So far we've gotten over a foot...............................We are about knee high in snow now. Who knows how much Tug Hill got.Lol!

JIMMY, the groundhog in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin DID SEE his shadow, so an early spring this year, and he's right much more than Phil in Puxatawny. I only live 4 miles from Sun Prairie.

But who would want to hold an old stinking wood chuck. I'd shoot it if I had a chance nothing good about them. Hole digging varmints.

Exactly!!
Around here if he sees his shadow we get 6 weeks; if he doesn't see it, then we get a month and a half!
