Well the engine is out of a 66 but the rest of the tractor started life as a 64 model gaser. I bought a rough 66 diesel and a very nice low hour gasser and rebuilt the diesel engine and made this one. I also did the same thing with another 3020 but it has a 3010 diesel engine that we updated with a 3020 head, pencil injectors and 3020 pump. Tom

I had a 400 and really liked it. I got worried about the main gearbox under the tank as it was moving around a lot more then it did. I had it full of cornhead grease as it was leaking around the seals. The parts man at the Deere dealer give me a deer in the headlights look when I asked about getting parts. The guy that owned it before me had put a new gearbox on it when he had it. I sold it while it still was working good and got a Arts-Way. The Arts-Way is ok and I can get parts for it but I liked the Deere better.

Bearings should be available for the gearbox. What usually happens is the shaft wears and the seal fails letting some feed into the gearbox. Gets like a cake mix and then after it gets more in it gets hard and the gearbox self destructs. I have parted out some and have 2 good gearboxes setting on the shelf. We change gearbox oil every year. Tom

Ah yes,a 'franken tractor' :) I have one of those. An MD with a 400 gas engine. Looks like a 400 on the front half,an M on the rear half.Made one good tractor from a couple of junkers from the 'dead row'.

That's a nice set up! I love making feed, seems like the perfect job on a winter day. I have almost the same setup but in Case instead.
