Uh Excuse Me

Hey Mr Deer;
You might what to find some place better to lay.
Beep Beep.....

Yes I know he is probably hit by a car and is wounded or paralyzed but I still thought it was funny.
He is just laying there; alive; and looking all around.

"Yes I know he is probably hit by a car and is wounded or paralyzed but I still thought it was funny."

You're a barrel of laughs!

Maybe I should re-word my comment.

I went by the deer and he was just laying on the side of the road like he did not have a care in the world.
It seem odd and even funny that he did not move even when traffic passed him by.
What a odd place for him to choose to lay down.

Yes in reality I know he did not choose this spot to just lay down.
He was most likely hit by a car and is now wounded or paralyzed.

Let me try and help you out, as I use that phrase and people take me wrong too. Funny as in strange, not as in Ha. Ha. laughing funny.

aybe it's just me, but in those situations during my life I've tried to put a suffering animal out of it's misery.

OK, so it was an awkwardly crafted sentence- you know if you spend enough time on here you're going to say something that somebody will object to whether you intend to or not!
I apologize for seizing on your post and being a bit too quick to comment on it but a major pet peeve of mine is animal cruelty and any attendant apathy, either by plan, ignorance, or accident.
I think we can both agree that the best possible scenario for that poor injured animal was hopefully to be put out of its misery quickly and cleanly and any useable meat recovered and/or donated to the needy.

I just dealt with similar incident involving a mangled young buck with a broken pelvis and semi-attached leg that showed up at my feeding station a few weeks ago. Given that recent experience maybe I'm also guilty of being a little over sensitive.

Sorry.

IN most states it is illegal to put an injured animal out of it's misery. You are to call authorities and they are to do it. Minn even passed a law a few years ago making it illegal to pick up any road kill, like a racoon for instance without authority.

Reasoning on smaller animals is that some people intentionally run over racoons, mink, fox etc for value of fur.

Back in the Fall we had a dead deer in front of the farm one morning. It got gone by night. I don't think the DOT got it. I wonder who's been eating roadkill. . .

I saw this post awhile back and have to comment. It's not funny or strange or whatever spin you want to put on it. It's horrible. The poor animal is seriously injured but all you do is take a photo and draw your little arrow to show your buddies on social media. Shows a total lack of empathy and sensitivity to the plight of the deer who can't remove himself from harm's way.

In situations like this I've called the agency responsible for animal welfare and they're extremely responsive. If they can't come out--which is probably the case at 3 am--they'll contact the police since it's a road hazard.

You don't say in your original post whether you did any of that, but I'm guessing you didn't. Animals can also be frightened and confused and unable to help themselves--just like people at times. May want to consider that in the future.
