Another Oliver. Only saw a couple around here and they seemed to be technically advanced for their era. Seems to be a good sized following of the brand,
on here anyway. So what happened, another example of bad marketing, greed, corporate management blunders?

Olivers were fairly popular in the upper midwest. They were manufactured in Charles City, Iowa. In the late 40s and 50s they were very advanced in the industry - ahead of most other manufacturers offering 6 cylinder engines, advanced diesel engines, live independent PTO, electric activated hydraulic systems, etc. Their engines were Waukesha/Oliver joint manufactured. The engines were very efficient and dependable until they pushed their 310 cubic inch engine to 90 - 100 horsepower and had a lot of problems holding them together. They lost their good reputation over that and never recovered even though they eventually provided upgrades to the 310 and switched to other engine manufacturers for their higher horsepower tractors. They ended selling out to White in the 70s who used their technology along with Minneapolis Moline in the White line of tractors.
