Chicken little/weather

Well after 4 years of every evening telling us the sky is falling and the world will end soon because of, I see NBC is warning us of a heavy winter storm mid week,. Heavy snow, travel problems, XX number of people will be affected! My local news says 1-3 inches monday night,1-3 tue. into wed. Cold with wind. Normal winter forecast for west Michigan shoreline. It is January, we live in the snow belt, what is so special? Anything to make you think the sky is falling, and this will be the storm of storms. Come on news people, pull up your diaper, it will all be ok, its just some snow. Al

Weather reporters have a side-gig. Work on commission to local grocery stores on milk and bread sales..

They have named this storm, really so far we have a trace on the ground. They said 4 to 6 yesterday.

I've plowed the driveway twice this winter, and that was one storm! Maybe again later tomorrow, or early Wednesday. We'll see. The annoying thing here in the central Fingerlakes is the rarity of sunshine.

I understand the weather is unpredictable and I don't get worked up if they are wrong or even hype it up a bit. What bothers me is the bragging non stop with all their commercials and their high tech equipment. Then when they do fail with the prediction they act like nothing happened. I'd for once like to see a weatherman come on and say I have no clue what it's going to do. It could be this or that. LOL
And yeah their definition of a storm is a joke. Personally if it's not a foot or more it's just snow. Not a storm.

(quoted from post at 20:06:32 01/25/21) Here in Tn. just the mention of snow has the freaking out, schools will be closed for 2 flakes.

Ours closed and we just got 3 flakes. In a few days after they names this storm "Nathaniel" we went from 6-12, then 4-6, then 1-3 inches plus a ton of sleet and freezing rain. Got a little rain so far.

I was living in middle Tennessee 3 years ago January, when it snowed 8”, then rained and froze solid for
a week. Snow plows, snow shovels and windshield scrappers hibernate in them parts, apparently. Then
a few weeks later the tornadoes rolled thru. What a weather place indeed.
