I have a friend who does custom haying and keeps horses, his and borders. He doesn't do any farming though and doesn't have a plow. He asked me to plow a lot that was packed down by years of keeping horses. It
worked my MF 50 with the 2-14 Ferguson plow but I got it turned pretty deep. Then he came back over with a tandem disk harrow. It was good to relieve some of the stress of recent events in the family. BTW he assured me that combine was running when parked.

Lots of plowing here in the frozen north but it is all white stuff. LOL Thanks for posting as it renews my hope that spring will come again. Tom

Good job on heiping the guy out on that.I use to have a close friend that I use to going in and disk his big garden. On the farm I did do alot of plowing and then it was like a job. Now when I plow at some tractor shows I love it. I love that fresh smell of the dirt. Is there any of you guys that like it also or I'm I just a strange bird in, Wisconsin.

You're not alone!! I enjoy plowing at shows and plow days also. We are not the only ones!!

My younger brother and our cousin plowed with one of those toy plows(tru-scale?) so much that they wore the paint off the plow shares, and they were as shiny as a real plow. Mark.

An oldfriend,a 90 year old woman has an almost identical JD 55sitting in an identical fence row.She too said it was running when she drove it there 40 years ago.Probably did as she did custom combineing in the neighborhood. She tells me if I want it,I can just go get it.Nope. It can just stay there. ;)

So is that a D-4 in the plowing pictures or a D-2. A D-4 should pull 6-16's in 2nd gear about 6-8 inches pretty well. I used to pull 4-16's Oliver on land then one time we tried the 16-16's Deere on land pull it the same depth or deeper one gear slower so would still cover more ground in a day than the 4 bottom.
