Fed horses a bale of hay today with the WD 45. Its a 1955 model. I'm the second owner and I've had it for 31 yrs. Have a small JD with a cab but weather is nice for Jan. 45 and Sunny here in Southern Il. Wish it had power steering.

You are ready to go. Have the cultivator brackets on the front and the screen on the front of the radiator for the mounted corn picker. I have dads 51 WD he bought new, sold the mounted picker in 57 or 58. Still have the cultivator and the last time I used it was around 1975. Need to put it on the old girl just to bring back memories.

Great old tractor. Planted 60 acres of corn for my FIL with a WD 45 one time after his xt 190 went down. Glad I was young and could handle the rough ride. Nice to here from another Southern Illinois tractor man. Would you drive the WD 45 if say there was a tractor drive from Cobden to Bald Knob Cross and back again. Just trying to see how much interest there would be if it was to happen. That includes J Hamilton and anybody else n the area.

Power Steering was an option on the WD-45 and there are a number of them out there working everyday. Keep your eyes open and you may be able to pick up the Power Steering unit for sale or on a tractor for sale with it on.

I worked for an Allis / Oliver dealer in the middle 60s.   Mel the Allis mechanic could run a WD or 45 in his stall at 8 AM, have the engine down at coffee. He knew how to turn the short block to get it out of the frame without loosening.   Dealer kept a reconditioned crankshaft & Cylinder head, automatic replacement, have it together and running at 4 in the afternoon.

I'm going to talk to the people at the Cross and see what they think and then to the Cobden police to see what could be used as a staging area. Hopefully this nnalert thing won't interfere and things can be worked out.

Let me be the first one to say it; Oh my Gosh!! You have to loader so high it will tip over setting there!!! You can't have a loader on a narrow front tractor, if you raise it any higher it'll flip over and kill you!!!! LOL Nice looking old AC and loader. Keep on keepin on!!

Couldn't disagree more. 1. That bale isn't all that high. 2. If a wide front starts to tip with a bale on it, the axle stops aren't going to keep it from going over.

A lot of folks put down those loaders for being light and not having hydraulic bucket tilt but they were made for loading manure and they do that well, sure beat a pitch fork.

NICE old machine.

I used to own a styled John Deere "G" with a "Johnson" loader, the loader looked like a twin to yours except it had a bucket tilt cylinder.

Thanks for asking, I haven't ever went on one. Never had anything nice enough. Just went tractor pulling. But have a 6060 AC with a cab. Might drive it. But there is a active bunch of tractor drivers here in Wayne,White and Hamilton Countys. Sure some would come.

I have a factory power steering unit with the throttle linkage etc. But I've misplaced the add on crank pulley. And don't have the hyd pump. Now there is a lot of pumps with out attached reservoir. Maybe I'll get around touit.

If you have time stop by. Address is 2145 Co. Rd 50 N. Barnhill il. But I'm just 2 miles East of Mill Shoals to rd. 350 then 1 mile north. Mill Shoals is exit 110. 618 599 8041. I'm working on my D17 diesel.

Yes, I agree. Usually when someone post a picture of a narrow front tractor with a loader several people come on here crying about how dangerous a narrow front tractor with a loader is. I have one and have been around many, many set up the same way over the years. I was just poking the bear trying to get them going!! Chris
