Value of IH 14/1586 with bad engine

I have the chance to pick up a- Decals say 1586 but it has a 4-speed transmission which makes me think it is a 1486. The owner run it low on oil and locked the engine up. Tires fair- has sat out most of its life. Is this tractor worth scrap or more? What would be a fair offer? Going to look at it closer tomorrow night. Thanks, all-

Where are you located , I have a dt466 that would bolt right in, new pistons liners, head work and no telling what else and the guy would not pay the bill. I,ll sell it cheap Tennessee

A nearby 1486 with bad engine noise sold at auction early last year for around 5,000 dollars. The cab was pretty decent for an 86 series tractor so I think that played into the price substantially.

There's got to be some meat left on the bone for you at the scrapyard. You can't pay $195 a ton, load it up, haul it to the scrapyard, get paid $195 a ton, and make money at it.
