Talked to him on the phone, says the smaller one is a case...... I think its a Massey Harris pony? Was his aunt's tractor. Ran until a year or so ago. They took carb off to rebuild and never did. It's in a box with it. JD was from an estate sale. Starter is missing. He has never heard it run. Any idea on model? Gas burner.

The red one is not case, I think it's a Massey Harris pony like you said. I think they have some value in running condition. I always kinda liked them.

I know a guy in Alabama that bought a farm with non-running Allis Chalmers WD parked on it. If you are interested, I will see if he still has it. I don't think he has any interest in getting it running.

(quoted from post at 02:01:20 01/19/21) If the Deere is a 1010, 1020, 2010, or 2020, run don't walk. Can't get parts, and that one looks like it will need some.

By the picture the 2010 is a gas model, and yes you can get parts for them. If it is a diesel then run like hell.
They are not a bad tractor, they just get a bad rap from a few people. By the looks of it, I would call them part tractors as I assume that they do not run and it may cost a lot $$$$ to get them running only to find out that there may be other issues.

Parts are hard to get for that Massey Pony motor.
Has the N 62 Continental engine.
I agree with the run away, don't walk on that John Deere.
Richard

There are no parts problems for the 1020 and 2020. The only thing they share with the 1010-2010 is the green and yellow paint and maybe the fuel cap. Tom

The worth of that JD2010 is very difficult to determine. I agree with the other poster that said it is pretty much a parts tractor. I seriously, seriously doubt it would run if you got a new starter for it (more money). Chances are quite decent that even if you did get it running, the hyraulics or the pto or both wont work. If you want something to be your 'winter project" you might offer $500 for it. It really has little to no value to anyone except someone that may already have a 2010 gasser (not many, not a popular model), or someone that enjoys parting out a 2010. Very limited audience.

A number of years ago I check on getting a sleeve set for a 1010 and JD said they could get them but they cost $500 plus and that was just the sleeves nothing else

Bad rap? Pa bought a 2010 gasser in the 70’s. The goal was
to gain some power for field work and run the NI mounted
picker. After the second PTO clutch went out in the same
season he borrowed his brother’s rig to finish and traded that
bad rap off.

Currently $1725 for a bare cylinder sleeve deck from the YT Store, even more from some other sources. As old said, that is just the sleeve deck, no other parts.

(quoted from post at 18:47:22 01/18/21) This very site has lots of 2010 parts and 1010 parts haven t went on the John Deere site yet

My uncle had a 2010. Something broke in the transmission, and that was the end of the tractor. Could not get parts. New, used, nothing, anywhere, at any price. He ended up junking it and buying a new New Holland compact.

I wouldn't touch either one unless there were parts on one you needed. I don't recall seeing either model in the pictures of your fleet of tractors. You can do allot better for the money.

I don't know who you have been listening to, I have 2 1010 haven't had any problems getting parts for either one. I completely
rebuilt the gas motor for one 1010 gas. I'm working right now on my 1010 diesel engine, So far I haven't had any problem finding the parts I need. Just have to be careful with the sleeve deck, AND it can be bored!!!

Oh by the way, they are both crawlers.

Thing of it Old never said if the sleeve deck was cracked or if it just needed bored. And as far as I understand he has only worked on 1.

You ever own a 1010 or repaired one, I'll bet not.
I rebuilt a 115 ci gas engine 2 years ago, had no problem finding parts, even had to have crankshaft turned and had no problem finding over size bearings. I am working on a 145 ci diesel engine right now, I haven't had any problems locating the parts I need!!

World is at your finger tips!!!

You lost your bet. I will say it has been years since I did, but I have worked/repaired them, including engines that needed sleeve decks.

I think you are misinterpreting what I said (and what I understood old was saying). When I said that was just the sleeve deck, that is what I meant, and I think he meant. That is not an engine kit with pistons, just the deck. One has to purchase the other parts separately. I did not say parts were not available, I know they are. My point was, the cost to rebuild those engines is up there, If they need a sleeve deck. A major overhaul kit (having pistons, rings and all the other parts you would be buying to go with this engine's sleeve deck) is about $1000 for many other engines. And I believe this should be mentioned when someone is looking at one of them, just so they don't get surprised if that happens as some folks have been.

No opinion on the JD. I do believe the other is a MH Pony. Pacer's are more desirable than Pony's as fewer Pacer's made. They are neat tractors. Must be careful with staring from ground as shifter does not have much movement in neutral. A easy starter can easily start in gear. Saw a guy at a show try to start a Pony from the ground and thankfully it did not start but did move forward on him. Scared the carp out of him and me too!

2010 WUZ JUNK FROM NEW, WOULD NOT LIFT POSTHOLE DIGGER...AS PORE, AS THE 4010 STANDARD DSL WUZ GOOD...RUN, FORREST,
RUN...
BE BLESSED, GRATEFUL, PREPARED...
