Kerosene prices

Anyone else use Kerosene heaters in their home or workshop for supplemental or auxiliary heat? If so what are kerosene prices in your area? Last week I got it for $4.05/gal today I seen it jumped to $4.97 here in Southern Illinois.

Promises were made to rescind most all of the permits issued in the past four years that allowed the USA to become an fossil fuels net exporter.
Due to "the illlness" and the writing on the wall after 11/04/2020, shutdowns, reductions and the bean counters, the USA is once again already importing oil from OPEC and others.

I don't know what kerosene prices are now, but a week ago I bought premium off road diesel fuel delivered at the farm for $2.10 gallon here in Michigan.

Just wait until after Wednesday, once the new administration takes over you ain’t seen nothing yet. I’m afraid we are headed down a path this nation will not over come. We’ll be paying high prices at the pump and it’s going to effect the whole economy in every which a way. I can’t afford $6 or $7 a gallon for gasoline, it’s coming guys !

Last time I bought kerosene was probably in 2002 or so. Was four dollars a gallon and that is the last time I bought any. Them oil companies are stupid with the prices they charge for fuel.

I picked up 5 gallons last week to mix with the diesel in the plow tractor, here in the Peoples Progressive Paradise they call NY it was 4.60 a gallon.

Certainly, you are not claiming that energy prices are not going to increase due to new policies???

Or are you???

You can't even find Kerosene the further out west you go.....Heck, I even had a hard time finding it in Fargo, N.D.

Wouldn't have anything to do with the Saudis cutting production that started the price increases could it?

Most "kerosene" heaters these days can also burn diesel. I use winter diesel in mine because I don't feel like being treated like a criminal just for trying to buy a few gallons of kerosene.

Kerosene pumps around here are locked and don't have card readers so you have to go into the store and pay up front. They also make you sign a ledger and provide your name and address. I think they even checked my ID. Well, I want 5 GALLONS of kerosene, not a math problem. I give ya $20, I come up half a gallon short. I give ya $30, I gotta come back for change. I just want my fuel. So I buy diesel.

Dec. 03, 2020:

"OPEC and its oil-producing allies agreed to increase production by 500,000 barrels per day beginning in January.
The decision came after days of discussions, and after a meeting set for Tuesday was pushed to Thursday.
Ahead of the meeting, the oil-producing cartel was widely expected to extend production cuts of 7.7 million barrels per day through at least March. "

I always thought a production increase would trigger price to go down, not up. Or at least stiffle or slow rising prices.

I burn diesel in my torpedo heater in the
shop which uses electricity to run. I was
actually referring to more of the household
style salamander heaters that you have to
light the wick

We filled up 8500 gall off road non taxed diesel for the farm last week $ 1.78 gallon Tennessee

We actually have a gas station here in town with a mechanical dials gas pump that know dispenses kerosene.

This type of kerosene heater is what I'm referring to

I fear gasoline could be double that in a year. Folks we are in for some bad times here shortly, I don’t see how we’re gonna pull through the days ahead with the pres-elect opening the borders, stopping oil production, the green new deal, his version of a stimulus package that will be astronomical, raising minimum wage, etc.

Yes not long ago he said he wanted to add another $1400 to the $600 which would be exactly what the one that is leaving wanted so the new guy is trying to make him self look good but yet not agree to what the one leaving wanted

After paying 30 bux for 5 gal at TSC last month, I found dyed Kerosene at the local farm supply station (not the coop) for 2.27 a gallon. That was cheaper than the dyed diesel. This station sell gas different than most. They sell a tanker load based on the price they pay no matter what the price does day to day and what the other stations do. So if the price goes up everywhere else, they are the same and a good deal. Even when the price goes down they sell enough even though they are higher to go through a tanker load fairly quick. They have the only full service set of pumps in town with the self service further away.

Center of KS in the center of the US. It's a long ways to the East and West coast and we aren't getting propositioned to death. We don't have those stupid rubber ends on the nozzles either. We do have the modern pumps that shut off at the nozzle instead of the pump so no more draining the hose like we used to.

So are you saying you live in Kansas?? I once lived there in Winfield KS but that was 50 plus years ago. I'd love to go back just to see what it is like now and to see if the house my dad built is still there

Yes, use 35K Readi Heater works good. $3.99 gallon for kerosene in SE Michigan Used over 5 gallons this year working on the new tractor.
