Got up the courage on my F150

I finally got up the courage to change the plugs on my 06 F150 looked at youtube videos and talked to mechanics..not a single one broke off..I call it luck.lol
 
Yes to me 2x the truck lol no misfire under load all the shops wanted 550.00 if all went well..but you know that story.
 
Is that the same V 10 motor I have in my 02 motorhome? That has a habit of blowing out plugs, and breaking exhaust manifold studs? So far neither has happened to me. Stan

No, 2002 was still a 2 valve engine, and those problems were not just for the V10, though more common on the V10. The broken plug design in on the 3 valve, they break upon removal. 2 valve engines were known to spit plugs out, pulling the threads too, but it wasn't nearly as common as the broken plugs on 3V's.

Yes, you are lucky. I replaced plugs on dozens of these 3V's and most of the time at least one breaks. The very first one I had was on a lincoln truck with 7 miles, on it brand new vehicle and broke 3 so it's not just the time or carbon build up. I have had all 8 that broke before or some that none broke.

All the 3V engines are old now, most have probably had the spark plugs replaced at least once, with revised plugs and possibly anti-seize used on the stems (not on the threads), they shouldn't break as often or easily. Also in 2008, maybe late 2007's the spark plugs were redesigned to prevent this problem, if you have one of these trucks or newer, you can remove plugs without worries.
