1989 Harvest in Sask

Great video. We grow durum too and so do other guys. Those JD 800 swathers were popular here. 6620s not so much. Farms must have been generally smaller in your area because the 4400 was considered too small of a combine and the 6620 almost too small.

I would say the 7720 was the most common size here. Very few of the big 8820s.

(quoted from post at 19:51:39 01/14/21) That was interesting. The swathers are still widely used in your area for wheat ?
Not much anymore. I rarely swath wheat. Wait for it to ripen and then straight cut. Bigger farmers will dessicate their wheat with herbicide to speed up and even out the ripening. Then straight cut. Not sure how much longer that will work as people might not like the thought of the wheat being sprayed so close to harvest time.

Interesting video and that looks to a really good crop he was harvesting. You have shown videos of this farmer in the past and can tell he knew what he was doing. I would bet he was very successful. Thanks for posting

I ran a 6620 for a neighbor a few years ago. Good machine, never had one speck of trouble with it and a whole lot bigger than my old Allis 60 pull type.
