That's the first one I've seen with hydraulics. My Mother's cousin was a road builder/contractor in the 1930s and had quite a number of WC Allis Chalmers speed patrols
but they were all hand-operated, as far as I know.
 
When and where i grew up, the township had one,a pull type grader, it had about 30 inch cast wheels to raise and lower the blade, wow for cumbersom, it always sat at my dads farm,under the trees, It was pretty heavy,about 5 foot high steel wheels in back,wasn't very handy, i suppose it was made for 6 horses! So hyd was a vast improvement i am sure!
 
Did you notice the hydraulic power steering? It is considerably higher than the tractor in the background. Perhaps to drive while standing up? Could you stand and
drive an AC?
