Ring compressor

Bought the otc ring compressor and a hammer to install pistons and a ring expander from summit racing . I tried to buy from Snap-on but the site wouldn’t let me create an account so I decided they didn’t need my money

I have the same set. Been using it for near 20 years.
Don't have a fancy hammer like that but, I like it !

all i have ever used to put pistons in is a ball peen hammer. use the handle part and the head is your handle. lots handier than that hammer.

Exactly and that means it will stay in the shop where it belongs instead of in the tractor tool box or who knows where

I really this style but they are engine specific. I have always used a hammer handle to shove pistons in with.

I seen those after I had bought the one I did . I bought the hammer so it will stay in the engine tools drawer and not in tractor toolbox or the service truck

I hate the band type every you’d get already to go and it would let go or let go with the piston half way in the hole

I've used this one for years and it works good. It's the same one my engine rebuilder uses.

The same as I have used for the past 50 plus years,, never seen the sleeve type I guess,, so no comments about them good or bad,, I will keep using what i know,, never had a single issue using it, cant even guess how many engines i used it on,, but its a lot

hat's the one I was referring to as the spring steel type. It works, but I wouldn't give you 7 cents a pound for it.

Did you ever try to put a jug on a 4 wheeler or snowmobile engine or a Deutz with one like that? The band style is way better.

I have one like Jon pictured works fine. Some times they will try to get in the hole with the top of the piston. Not much of a problem though.

never worked on a Deutz engine,, my liquid sleds I can install with anything,, Kolher ect is about as small as I go, most everything i do work on is much larger, I could see how they would be nice for some engines, aps for sure,,

I have always hated that kind . I’m no professional engine shop but out of the engines I have done I hated that tool every time
