Cockshutt 50 and hammer mill

Gave the old Cockshutt 50 its regular exercise yesterday running belt drive McCormick hammer mill. I'd guess a good 150 bushels or more of oats through the mill for cattle feed. It used a good half quart of engine oil although I think a lot of that was the leak from the timing gear cover.

Yes, Buda 273 six cylinder. Its a smooth and reliable runner. Got the 230 in the smaller Cockshutt 40.

(quoted from post at 07:38:40 01/07/21) When I was a kid, I loved getting the chance to run
my dads 35 Cockshutt. Those tractors had such a
great feel.
The 35 was toward the end of this series. Had a Hercules motor I think. When I was a kid I was just waiting for the chance to drive anything with wheels. Pretty excited when dad turned me loose on the 50 out in the field. Noise, dust and wind burned face but it was great. Today I don't have that much enthusiasm for sitting on open machinery. Not for long anyway.

I have ground a good bit of feed with a hammer mill, but PTO driven. I remember the oats would make the old H work pretty hard. I would grind into barrels, and alternate the corn, oats and supplements to get a somewhat mixed ration. Cool video !

Took a bit to find, however I have all cockshutt diesels . Cockshutt 30 , Cockshutt 40 , Cockshutt 50.
Also 20 through 40 gasoline. Need to find a 50 gas.

The Cockhutt 40 and 50 gas models were probably the most common here. I only knew of a few diesel 50s like this full fendered one my neighbour had.

(quoted from post at 14:24:20 01/07/21) Do you have a Deluxe 35 Cockshutt 1956-1957 ?
No. I only ever saw one 35 and it was at a farm auction back in the 80s. I didn't need it badly enough at the time to bid on it. I bought a Perkins powered 40 that had a seized and cracked engine. Switched the Perkins for a Buda diesel and did get it to run but never did finish the project.

I do not. As I recall the 35 is about the same Horse =Power as a Farmall H. The Cockshutt 35 is the porotype for the Cockshutt 550 of which I do have. A very handy tractor.
