Warm Day For January

Warm day for January here. Up around *22F this afternoon so I took advantage of it to start a few engines and get a few jobs done. Like installing the dozer blade to be ready for more snow. Got the 66 year old Wisconsin auger engine going to load some oats to do a load of chop for cattle feed tomorrow. Had to shut down by 5 o'clock because the camera battery died. :)

Warm Day For January

That’s a nice snow pushing tractor right there . Hopefully you get enough snow to need it . We had a few flakes come today but not much yet

Isn't it nice to keep everything in tip-top shape so it starts up and performs perfect any time you go to use it. I try to keep all my equip. in excellent shape as well.

I like your grandpa mitts. Hardly see anyone wear those anymore. I only wear mine when it’s really cold. Other wise gloves. Ya nice weather so far.

(quoted from post at 20:14:25 01/04/21) Oh by the way--I like your Case weather front.
Thanks. Its a piece of a big cardboard box that a Case garden tractor was shipped in. No IH on the logo so that tells you it is pre 1984. Its lasted well.

I've worn that style mitts for winter all my life. I think I've mentioned before that gloves are useless to keep my cold hands from freezing. Although I'd probably been fine with them today as warm as it was.

I'm a bit confused. You have a snow blower on your John Deere and now a snow blade on the Case. Why do you need both? Maybe it's for the cab to keep you out of the wind when it's really cold. I use those kind of mitts too and my hands still get cold. I really think it's old age that causes some of the cold hands.

Blades are nice for clearing long driveways and big yards fast when the snow gets over two feet deep I put my rear blade on before that I just use a box scraper it works better for smaller amounts of snow faster . Never get enough snow at one to need a blower

Had the blower since 1974 and the blade since the early 90s and used both plenty. The blower is best on driveways as it does not leave a ridge to catch more snow. The blade is a little faster but leaves piles and ridges of snow to catch next time it blows. Plus I use the 2090 on grain vac so need the blade to clean in front of the grain bins so the semis don't get stuck in snow. I use that blade to clear away frozen manure by the barns and cattle shelter. Can't do that with a blower.

Yeah, 22 is pretty cold where I live. We have highs into the upper 30s or 40s most days in January.

Maybe I could get used to that kind of heat and no snow in January but I doubt it after a lifetime of it. I can't imagine walking around on bare, unfrozen ground in January. It would be depressing for me I thnk if it happened here.
