Using starting wheel to start John Deere

Hello,

In my B's owners manual, they talk about using the steering wheel to start the tractor. They talk about a stub shaft and cross pin. I do not
have a part number in my parts book for this. Were would this be obtained? I want to get this to turn the flywheel for magneto timing.
Attached is a picture.

Depends on what year your B is. As noted in Jim's link, that one is for the newer ones with enclosed flywheels. If yours is an older tractor you will need this one.

I made the stub shaft from a hex head bolt. 5/8 bolt I believe. Then I use a crescent wrench to turn it. Works great. Keep one in the toolbox of my "B" and "AR".
