OIL IN EXHAUST

Hi guys. My Massey Ferguson 275. leaks a lot of oil in the exhaust pipe. It finishes a 1 litre in no time. It has been lying idle for a long time and i discovered my air filter pipe was long damaged :( :(

Does it idle a lot? How does it run? Does the damaged pipe keep it from breathing? I would something else other than worn engine parts.

it idles well in low idle but a little stutter in high revs. no signs of blocked airway. power seems a little fine

More information please! Is it gas or diesel? It has been lying idle for a long time??? As in it
hasn't been started in 5 or 10 years or it just sets and idles for long periods of time? Has it been
ran long enough to get it warmed up good under some kind of load?? Your question is like going to
the Dr. and telling him you don't feel good but have no symptoms. More information please!!!

if your air intake tube was bad you might have dusted your engine [taken in dirty air]that in turn has wore the rings and cylinders .how dose it start ?. the only fix for a dusted engine is a rebuild of the pistons and cylinders at the minimum

Could be the rings are stuck,if it was my tractor I'd make sure the air cleaner problem was solved then hook it to something like a disk harrow and make it work hard.Dump a can of seafoam and a little ATF in the fuel also.

We need a bit of history. We need to know the engine type. Diesel or Gasoline, or Propane. A litre in "no time actually needs a number of days
operating, and the load applied so we can judge the conditions of use, against that consumption. We also need to know if there are puddles under it
indicating a leak. How long have you owned it? what type of oil, and viscosity is in it? Soes it loose hydraulic fluid as well? Does it smoke blue
grey out the exhause most when at Idle, or at higher loads and speeds? What does the exhaust stream look like when under load (warmed up)? Is the
"oil" splattering onto the hood and look like soot, then dries to a grey powder? We want to help. Jim

e's gone.

The MF 275 only came with the Perkins 4.248 diesel. Engine MIGHT be "wet stacking", too much light load use, or low cylinder compression heat. Make sure the thermostat
woks right too, low coolant temp makes it worse. If engine starts harder than normal cold, might be low compression. Injectors removed and a compression test will confirm
engine piston/rings/sleeves condition.

I agree with the other poster that it is wet stacking. Put a quart of Risilone in the crank and run it until it is at operating temperature.
The Risilone will clean up rings and wet the seals. Work the tractor for a while, drive it and then drain and put in fresh oil.

Is the crankcase oil also dropping in proportion to the oil in the exhaust (liter for liter)? If not, it is probably not an oil leak just wet stacking (carbon, un-burnt fuel and water vapor condensing in the exhaust).
